ULTRA MAGA

The country singer, who released the song in May, said the tune is an ode to the “feeling of a community” he had growing up. Critics say it is offensive.

Country Music Television has pulled a music video for the song “Try That in a Small Town,” by the country music superstar Jason Aldean, which was filmed at the site of a lynching, amid accusations that its lyrics and message are offensive.
The video, released in May, was shot in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tenn., a site known for the 1927 mob lynching of Henry Choate, an 18-year-old Black man, and is interspersed with violent news footage, including protests. An American flag is draped between the building’s central pillars, while Aldean, strumming a guitar, lists what he imagines as big city behavior that would not be well received in a small town; “carjack an old lady”; “cuss out a cop”; “stomp on the flag.”
State Representative Justin Jones of Tennessee, a Democrat, condemned the song on Twitter, describing it as a “heinous song calling for racist violence” that promoted “a shameful vision of gun extremism and vigilantism.”
On Tuesday, CMT confirmed by email that it had stopped airing the video on Monday, but did not offer any explanation. The news was first reported by Billboard.

Aldean defended himself on Twitter, asserting that he had been accused of “releasing a pro-lynching song” and being “not too pleased” with the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

“These references are not only meritless, but dangerous,” he said. “There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.”

Aldean then made reference to his performance in 2017 at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas, where a gunman opened fire from a hotel room, killing 58 people.
“NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart,” Aldean said. The song, he added, referred to the “feeling of a community” he experienced growing up, where neighbors took care of one another, regardless of differences in background or belief.

“My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this Country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to — that’s what this song is about,” Aldean said.
BRB Music Group, which represents Aldean, could not be immediately reached for comment.

The music video (RT 3:08):

I think Mr. Aldean just gained another fan.

Here since the beginning
_______________
“carjack an old lady”; “cuss out a cop”; “stomp on the flag.”

So by saying Aldean is racist for calling out that behavior, what they're saying is that behavior is the kind of thing blacks do (because "racist" pretty much always equals "talking about blacks")? Sort of how it's "homophobic" to try to prevent drag queens from grooming small children, implying that grooming small children is something homosexuals do?

I dunno. That sounds a lot like they're telling on themselves by assuming that calling out that behavior is somehow "racist". I don't believe Aldean ever mentions any ethnic community or demographic in connection with that behavior...

Breaking this message down....
He sings all the right things to appeal to conservatives.
He is standing and singing in front of the courthouse where there was a lynching of an 18 year old black man.
Bottom line:
This guy is a tool. Appeal to conservatives and repulse the liberals because of the conservative/lynching link, which cannot be denied. "It is a trap."

Do you remember that no one becomes a star unless they sign up for the evil/devil agenda.

“Well, try that in a small town / See how far ya make it down the road / Around here, we take care of our own / You cross that line, it won’t take long / For you to find out, I recommend you don’t,” Aldean warns.

In the second verse, Aldean claims he’s equipped with a gun from his grandfather.

“Got a gun that my grandad gave me / They say one day they’re gonna round up / Well, that s–t may fly in the city, good luck,” he advises, though it’s unclear who “they” refers to.

The music video, which was released Friday, features footage from protests, including BLM protests.

My take on the song is that it is entirely about one demographic, population density. Much like with animal studies, if you don't give people (with differences) enough room...

Someone had to go back almost 100 years to find a lynching. Trying REAL HARD to find something racist about it.....
And how is it "a trap"? Do you get arrested if you download it? "A trap" - what are your imagined consequences for listening, buying, liking, etc.

If there are no consequences there is no trap.....

But the left is showing how anti-American they are, once again.

It probably wasn’t intended to invoke lynching but I bet that courthouse was chosen for its shape as backdrop and lighting for a nightshoot.

Not to minimize the history but 5000+ blacks were lynched in this country and most mobs took place within the county seat level at the county jail lockup. The challenge would be in finding a courthouse where it didn’t happen. Aldean was seared by that Vegas massacre experience and sounds like he is ready for the blowback off this.

"...though it's unclear who "they" refers to."

It only becomes clear who "they" are, when someone gets a knock on the door, for the midnight round up. Right up until that point, that someone was likely asleep.

HC1 - I was about to bring that subjest up - IIRC he took a pretty strong ANTI GUN stand there after . . . am i mis remembering this or is that accurate? anyone else recall this? I'd always like him but it seems that I recall distancing my self from his work after the Vegas events

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I found this song a week or so ago. I didn't hear any of the crap he's being accused of. Methinks Dems are too stupid and delusionarily sensitive to live the normal life the rest of us do.
I also think that not a one of them have listened to the song. Not one of them, including the once expelled Rep. Justin Jones. understands what life beyond city limits is like.

Sorry folks but I bought and downloaded it and will cross CMT off my watchlist. To me, it looks like any one of a hundred county courthouses, so it was news to find out it was a courthouse that had a lynching. In today's cancel culture, it makes me wonder why it hasn't been torn down!

Personally I think the controversy is better than the song, but that's just me. I don't think the song is bad, just not anything I'd rush to add to my personal playlist. Considering how much of what we see and hear is deliberately engineered, one of my first thoughts was somebody planted the seed on social media and now the band is reaping celebrityhood that they wouldn't otherwise have. As they say, bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.

It is a passive protest, like Bud, Target, Disney etc. We got beat down with the rigged selection and J6 indictments. The silent majority is using economics, alternative media and art to voice our protest.

We see video after video of blacks running up and coldcocking unsuspecting whites or Asians. In my area, it is almost exclusively the blacks that are going into stores and coming out with arm-fulls of merchandise they haven't paid for. (This is in a city where Hispanics are the majority and there is cartel presence and no go after dark areas. This low level crime doesn't seem to come from them. They do murders and drugs.) We saw the horrendous ANTIFA and BLM protests doing their violence and intimidation.

By pointing out the crimes against individuals and business, Aldean is not racist. It is what it is. Pretty self-evident from tik-tok videos that there is a trend.

Heck the Santa Clara County Courthouse on St. James Square in San Jose had a double lynching in 1932 and there are photos of Klan rallies in front of and around the Alameda County Courthouse in Oakland from around the same time.

I'm all about the doom
How long long will it take for some group of evil to rise to the challenge of the song -"Try that in a Small Town". Some little town will be targeted, everyone will be caught by surprise, some people will be killed or seriously hurt, and not one of the citizens there will have done anything to counterattack.

Never really listened to his stuff but now, I have to search his catalogue out.

Putting DW to bed early; she's got something going on and I think a good night's sleep is step one on any recovery road. I'll tuck her in then get the headphones out and check out JA tonight.
