CORONA Ivermectin for cats

My 95 year old mom just recovered from COVID. Now her cat is not well. From what I am reading cats can get COVID from their humans. This cat sleeps with my mom. There are no vet appointments until Monday and many vet offices are closed due to COVID. So far my sister is not able to get the cat in anywhere. Can a cat be given horse Ivermectin? I am getting conflicting info on line. I do not have cats and I do not want to take a risk giving my mom's cat a toxic dose of Ivermectin.

Thanks for your help!!

Well it's a cat. So it could be anything. These are about IVM and cats and it looks like they can have it.

Our old cat used to get eye works from rabbit dens. The standard vet procedure was to put the cat out and manually remove the worms. After the 2nd time of doings my wife asked the vet about IVM, he calculated the dose of horse paste needed and after a single dose the eye worms were gone.

She will not eat or meow or get off my Mom's bed. She usually has slept at my Mom's feet but she wants to sleep by my Mom's head. As I thought more about it, I wonder if the cat is stressed out. She is probably about 15 years old. My Mom has been sick with COVID but is now over it. I'm sure she felt the stress in the house over my Mom, my brother and my nephew all being positive for COVID.

My nephew is a new addition to the household as of two days before everyone came down with COVID.

Also, my mom's regular care giver who was at the house daily at set hours has been gone since everyone got sick a week ago.

I would still consider getting her in as soon as her vet can. Cats can't go long without eating before they get in a really bad place. Anything you can get in in the meantime helps. Try tuna of course, but also level 3 meat pureed meat baby food to entice eating.

They will likely need some labwork to determine the issue. cKD is high on the list for a 15 year old kitteh.

Thank you everyone. If this was a horse or a dog I would know what to do. But my Mom is 95 and this is her baby so there is just no messing this one up. THANKS!!!!
