OT/MISC Iraqi stranger visited our church today at very end of service.

The sermon was over and as we were filing out of the sanctuary into the narthex, I noticed a stranger standing waiting. I could not see his face, his back was to me. I went upstairs for coffee and soon the Pastor came in. He said the stranger was an Iraqi. The Iraqi stated that there were a lot of Christians being killed in Iraq. The Pastor was interested in what he had to say and invited him to come back but the Iraqi said he is traveling from church to church.

A Christian Iraqi seeking to testify on behalf of those Christians being allowed to die at the hands of IS?

Apparently so. I should have been more situationally aware,
I did notice his clothing was strange even from the back.
He must have just come from Iraq.

The Iraqi & Syrian Christians who try to get into Europe are being thrown into the sea and held under to drown by the muslim migrants, those who stay in Syria and Iraq are massacred by the various rebel groups,
Those are the migrants that need help but the ptb couldn't give a shite

The Obama administration just declared that the slaughter of Christians by ISIS did not yet amount to genocide. There's a thread on it here...

Was he a witness?

the Iraqi said he is traveling from church to church.

So maybe he's ok, but churches need to stay in condition orange. Maybe this guy was standing there the whole service, and he's traveling from church to church making a list of those where he was not noticed/challenged.

^^^^^ THIS^^^^^^ You folks better have some security at your church. Someone needs to check this guy out and everyone needs to be on the lookout for more.
where is this happening?

In a tiny city 45 miles northeast of Detroit.
I can say that security for our church has been
discussed and is well in hand. There are retired
police and ex-military in attendance.

And no one saw him until after the service, if I understand you right. Big fat fail right there.

Could be honestly trying to find the truth. Before you judge and turn one away, you must question and discern his sincerety. Discernment must be used. Caution? Always. Love? Always.

His only statement was he didn't notice him until after the service. Never said if anyone else did.

Be Well

may all be well

And the enemy combatant in the WH doesn't give a s*** , in truth he's happy about it.

HORRIBLE!

Doesn't Detroit has a very high Muslim populace?

Not just Detroit, many other areas of Michigan do too.
Hamtramck a tiny city within Detroit has a majority of Muslims and have elected Muslims to office.
Dearborn is mostly Muslims. I think it is a pretty much a "No Go Zone".

If you come to Michigan, do not go to Detroit, Hamtramck, Dearborn or Flint. Those are places
I don't go.

I do think that we need to re-evaluate the security within our church.

Oh you are mistaken! He gives a shite, about muslims. The destruction of all Christians and Jews is his agenda just as his political handbook the koran instructs. If it was Christians or Jews doing this to muslims, you can bet your aunt's pig Petunia that he'd be all over it, screeching about the carnage from the rooftops. I believe one of the reasons his goons went into Syria was to rid it of it's Christians and Jews, as their President was rather tolerant of them.

How many souls lost does it take to officially be genocide? 100? 500? 1000?

A month ago we had a similar situation.
As we were leaving and shaking the Pastor's hand
I looked up and saw a black man in very dirty, worn & torn military fatigues
standing waiting as we entered the narthex after the service.
Clearly he was not ex-military.
Later the pastor said he was a homeless man.

I think the Pastor is really NOT up to snuff on what is going on in the world.
I'm going to talk with others on how we can protect the church better.

well, it depends on the KIND of lives. Black lives? 1 constitutes genocide. White lives....that's silly, no such think as a white genocide. Same with Muslims and every other religion.

Depends on where you're standing. If you're BLM, one dead thug is genocide. If you're KKK, a thousand dead blacks aren't even a start.

Kind of like guns. If you're scared of guns, an unloaded Saturday night special is an arsenal. If you're a shooter, an unloaded Saturday night special is a paperweight.

I would think that it wouldn't take much conversation to vet an unknown person.

A musloid of ill intent wouldn't waste time in theological conversation, especially if it was Christian oriented. I doubt they could conceal their hatred for another religion.

If he tried to scoot when confronted, I would be suspicious.

A person that has been a victim of musloid persecution in the ME needs to be visiting churches and waking up people to what is going on.

IMO.....many are aware of the atrocities, but really do not want to "speak/ponder" them..........yes, there's little I personally can do except pray against such evil and petition the Lord to move against those entities........but when they are invited perhaps that changes the tenor of petition.....judgment comes at the proper time...and I hope and pray that Psalm 91 and others will cover my household......darkness comes but it cannot ultimately overcome light............

Absolutely. Any sincere Christian is going to be fairly easy to spot. And yes, we NEED that "human face" in order for people to wake up to what's happening over there.

Most are not up to date on what's going on around the world. Most pastors are run ragged tending to their tiny flocks, not all pastors run mega churches and have a staff that numbers in the hundreds.

You'd be surprised, never underestimate the enemy! Muslims are required to learn the bible, both the Hebrew and the Christian texts, some learn it very well as a means of future use against us and go on to become imans, etc.

ainitfunny

Saved, to glorify God.
There is also the possibility of Muslims soliciting donations to "Help persecuted Arab Christians" that really instead go to fund ISIS jihadists. They ARE aware of Christian charity and sympathy and will exploit it. They also are that contemptuous of Christians and willing to defraud them.

My statement wasn't about this individual, but about not being aware that ANY stranger was there. We can second-guess about whether this was a good guy, or a bad guy able to pass as a good guy while he did a recon. My point was that if ANY person can come in and not be noticed, your church security doesn't exist. Having a bunch in the congregation who carry, all sitting with their backs to the door, is no protection at all.

Talk is cheap
One of my former bosses has three kids, and their boy had 51 charges with the police dept. from age 12 to 16. His mother had told me a lot of his deviance and anger problems. She told me once that he and his friends had visited many of the churches in the area, and it was not to worship. Real spooky.

I now sit on the side so I can see all doors. And I hope that there is never a need for more than watchfulness.

If that had happened near me, my thought: "we're being cased until proven otherwise."

You should have at least two armed adults patrolling during services and they should secure the exterior doors about ten minutes into the service. Late comers need to be directed to one specific door, where someone is on watch and will let them in but challenge others.

If I lived in or near Michigan at this point, I would either be attending only small home Bible studies or churches where the security was very good. Being rural doesn't mean it's safe. Everyone needs good security.
