I received the following e-mail today and decided to reply. I wonder how Nigerian scammers deal with ghosts?

This day, one Mrs. Cynthia Edward, came to my office to let us know that you are DEAD, and before your death, you instructed her to come for the claim of your funds in the tune of US$8.5 Million that was long abandoned in your name with this bank (PLATINUM ASSURANCE BANK) this is what we want to verify from you before we make the payment to who came for the claim.
(I) Did you authorize Mrs. Cynthia Edward to come for your claim?
(ii) Are you truly Dead OR Alive?
If (NO) you are hereby advice as a matter of urgency to reconfirm the details of this message within 24hours, hence your funds shall be wired into her account without any more delay.

Thank you for your e-mail. I must confess that I really do not know of Mrs. Cynthia Edwards, nor have I authorized her to have anything to do with my personal finances. As to your second question, I was on vacation this weekend, on the cruise ship Costa Concordia when the ship had some sort of accident and rolled onto it's right side. The ship's steward advised me to go to my stateroom and wait there for word from the captain of what to do next, but the ship continued to settle in the water and my cabin, 1433 on the Doria Deck, submerged, trapping me. I attempted to escape but, alas, I was unable to and subsequently succumbed to hypothermia.
Currently I am listed as "missing", but search activities on the ship have been stopped since it has become unstable. I am waiting here in a spiritual state, but oddly enough, electronic communications, even through my soaked laptop computer are still possible for me. How long this will last I cannot say, but I will continue to communicate with you for as long as possible.
