If the country was at war. It came to your area and the policy was scorched earth policy which way would you go? The enemy or gov burned all housing, food, and even woods which way would you go?

Would you stay where you are and hope for a miracle?

If the enemy was say coming from the west and the gov was on the east would you go north, south or east?

What is the best survival in a case like this?

Who is the enemy? Why are they fighting the government? This would have a large impact on which way we'd go. Or I should say would have a large impact on which way my wife would flee with our kids. If we're suffering a land invasion of the continental U.S. then I'm inclined to take the fight to the enemy rather than wait for it to come to Dun Hagan.

All you can do is bow up and take it, give as hard as you recieve until you die. Come to think of it, that's the way we should be living NOW, also. :ld:

This is the way of escape for the family not men who choose to fight. Sorry thought that would be a given.

I have no one living with me. It is just me and my dog, Bear. I'm just too old and delapidated to run :ld: , so I guess it'd be....

REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!

...for me. I'll do my best to 'make 'em limp' a bit while the rest of you make your escape.

Edited to add:

'Sides, wouldn't be nice to not be home when company comes a'callin' now would it?

Our local Mutual Assistance Group will be fielding a 10-15 man rifle team right along with Caplock. I would guess some of the WAN MAGs would be doing the same.

Well, in the case of those with shelters/bunkers that are reasonably well-hidden ... and that have air filtration systems, the choice is obvious. Hunker down, wait for the sweeps and firestorms to subside, then come up and see what's left to fight for.

Would they have not gotten their wives and children or elderly parents to safety first? If so which way would they take them?

Lot's of underspecified criteria here. In any case, it would seem you should of had a little advanced warning of what was coming your way, and not get into that position in the first place.

One would hopefully get all those who aren't doing logistical support of the fire team to their bug out destinations. Obviously hunkering down is out of the question, thats why people need to have BOTH a "hunker down" plan and a bug out plan. You should also have planned rendevous points.

What your describing is essentially people being reduced to refugee status, who have lost all self determination over the situation. Becoming reactive instead of proactive to circumstances very often ends up in demise or defeat.

Generally it's best to put up a proactive counter-offense as long as possible.

If you have ever watched Dr. Zhivago there is a scene in it where the train doors open and the village is burned down yet the women, children and old people are still there.

If that type of thing were happening and you had a day or so advance warning is what I wonder what people would do.

Think about it if we are at war there may not be much of TV and radio especially for local areas. You may only have a days warning or even a couple of hours warning. Everyone will not have preplanned we know that ;)

My Daughter who is also in my area, has a husband and kids. I don't know what they'd do under those circumstances. But, like I said, I'll be laying down a delaying action for as long as I can, to buy them the time to do whatever it is they decide to do. They just might decide to stand and fight with me, since they can all shoot as good as I can. Heck, this little country town just might all decide to stand and fight. Many families here have been here for centuries. They won't like being pushed from their homes. Yep, we'll stand and fight...and cause a heck of a lot o' limpin' fer the enemy.

No kids here so it's the Alamo for us too. As far as elderly parents go, my father earned marksman awards in the Army so he'd get a gun. Would have to teach Mom how to reload :spns:. Or at least she could keep watch.

And what Alan says is also true - better to take the fight to the enemy than to wait for them to come to you.

This country has not experienced this since the War between the States.

For all their apparent 'chumminess' in Europe, there is a collective consciousness of the past just below the surface. Those countries that have been occupied by force do not forget that. The EU would have a very long way to go before it really became a US of Europe. Honestly, I don't ever see them getting that far along the road. Their is too much of a hostile history.

Anyway, if there were an 'occupation' by enemy forces, whoever that may be, I think that tactical retreating can be effective. One man sitting on a roof with an AK is not going to stop an organized army. Collectively, a militia can do something.

This country can be invaded. I don't think it can be occuppied for any length of time at all. There are too many of us who are well armed, and would fight to the death. You see, I would expect many metro areas to go vichy.

If you haven't seen the old mini-series, 'Amerika', do so. It is very chilling. Even though it is around 20 years old, many of the situations look terribly familiar. I have only found bootleg copies of it.

Well, around here it would not be so much 'scorched' as it would be 'soggy' earth. All it would take is conventional bombs blowing holes in a couple of levees, and it would be mass pandemonium in my area.

If I had at least 30 minutes warning, I'd be heading uphill into the rocks.

Hard to say without more specific information; so many variables. But, we would be 20 miles from the Canidian border, so if we HAD to evacuate, we could go that way (not using the regular border crossings, but horseback through wooded trails that cross the border).

We'll stay and fight till we die . . . no real place to go if either/both sides are burning up everything in their wake or in front of them. :shr:

"One man sitting on a roof with an AK is not going to stop an organized army."

True, very true. but he can darn sure worry 'em and slow 'em down if he shoots and gits. Troops moving unopposed tend to travel faster than those being harrassed by sniper fire constantly. One lone man can't stop an army; but he can cause it to limp a bit. Heh heh.
