(I beg the board's pardon for this local election plea but I know I'm not the only Gwinnett County citizen on here - and who knows how many lurk here - 
)
Plz vote on Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the run-off for county chairperson. Your vote really counts this time because run-offs typically have a very low turn-out. In the primary election, there was a difference of roughly 8,000 votes between Charles Bannister and Lorraine Green, with 3,000 + votes going to a 3rd candidate who has since given his support to Lorraine Green. Lorraine Green also has the support of the Gwinnett County Sheriff and the Gwinnett County Police. Encourage everyone you know to support Lorraine Green. She's an environmental engineer with a degree from Ga Tech.
• She sponsored the ordinance that prohibits illegal aliens from working for businesses that have Gwinnett County contracts.
• She wants to see an ordinance that would punish landlords who rent to illegals. She says we must stop all incentives for illegals to come to Gwinnett and live here.
• She'd like to see Gwinnett enact a Homestead Option Sales Tax, or HOST, which will rollback taxes on homeowner-occupied properties and reduce other county taxes and fees as well. This would be replaced with a sales tax, which would make sure non-property owners pay their fair share of the county tax burden.
• She wants to expand the police dept's gang and drug task forces to help stop crime in Gwinnett. She attributes the huge increase in home invasions, burglaries and other crimes to our having too many illegal aliens here. (Murders have increased 34% and robberies and burglaries by 23% in recent years in Gwinnett.)
• She proposed the funding which will allow the Sheriff to implement the 287g program. This provides the legal authority for state and local enforcement to investigate, detain, and arrest aliens on civil and crimi*nal grounds and put them on the fast track for deportation.
