Pat Robertson: Bush Should Emulate Clinton

Christian Coalition chief Pat Robertson said Thursday night that President Bush could learn a thing or two from disgraced ex-President Bill Clinton when it comes to interpersonal relations with members of Congress.

Explaining why he thought Bush was partly to blame for Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords' decision to bolt the GOP, the conservative preacher told Fox News Channel's "The Edge with Paula Zahn":

"There's a certain insensibility to the feelings of people around him, both supporters and non-supporters. It's just -- you know, Bill Clinton was a master at this. This guy was one of the most personable people.

"I know he didn't tell the truth and he had, you know, an appalling moral life. But he knew how to schmooze people. And that goes a long way in politics.

"And I think the president would have, well, maybe he can learn something from that."
