Got a freebie offer via spam for VEHICLE REPAIR INFO

OddOne

< Yes, I do look like that.
This serves no useful purpose to me since (through my father's auto shop) I have access to several-thousand-dollar scanners and Mitchell's OnDemand info service (which is a subscription-based information service for professional auto techs that costs about four grand a year) but it might be useful to some folks here.

A company called Actron, which makes consumer and professional scanner/code-reader gear for auto repairs, has started an info service catering to DIYers and shadetrees called Repair Path.

The basic idea is that for a few bucks you can get access to repair and diagnostic info on one specific vehicle for a short time. This could prove very useful if you need a how-to on a specific repair job and don't want to drop crazy $ on a shop manual. (They offer two days' access to info for $3.99, scaling up to $14.99 for a year's access. This is for ONE VEHICLE, by the way, and no you can't change vehicles in the middle of a subscription period.)

I got a free one year's access passcode for repair info only, not diagnostics for one vehicle sent to me as a trial thing, and I bet it's reusable. I don't need it as previously mentioned, but I bet some TBers can. So, here's the important bit:

The site: http://www.repairpath.com/
The access code: freerepairinfo

Disclaimer: I got this info via E-mail. I make no claims about anything and certainly no claims about the accuracy of any info there. I have no connection whatsoever to the company except for the fact that my father does own one of their scanners. I'm merely passing this info along in case it's useful to someone here.

No idea how long this will be valid or how good the coverage is, BTW. Caveat emptor, YMMV, all that sort of thing. ;)

Thanks for posting this. The info. is good it's more in depth than Haynes books. It would be a better service for a DIY backyard mechanic if you could switch vehicles.
