Ours goes out everything it rains. It rains A LOT in Upstate NY. *Everything * on the place quits... cellphones (you MIGHT get one bar if you want to go stand in the rain!), TVs, all computers, tablets, etc! And, of course, it's raining! I'd happily leave the machines and go rise the horse... but I've rather outgrown wanting to ride in the rain! And it's hell on tack.
Windstream came out for probably the dozenth time in the last 3 years. This time it was a trainer and trainee... so they had to pretend to teach the newbie how to handle irate customers with problems that are years old and *clearly* the company's responsibility! They actually listened, and although they had to put off their appointment the previous 2 days, because it was raining (not really- only because the complaint was specifically that it went out every time it rained even lightly... so if they actually showed up while it was raining, they might not be able to avoid finding the issue!)
Anyway, they miscalculated. This guy demonstrated how to check for water in the lines..l he punched a hole in the insulation and gallons of water ran out!
So, still following the customer service playbook, not the actual one, and informed us the entire line needs replacing, and construction would be out within 48 hours. The only thing that came was the phone call... "so solly! We somehow are regrettably out of the cable needed! We'll let you know..." Good gravy... it's not a short driveway, but 400 yards shouldn't bankrupt them again!
I'll be contacting the FCC tomorrow. DS is muttering again about buying outdoor Cat 6 cable and running it himself. (He's already been doing all the repairs up the pole for years!)
The FCC report got the telephone wire off our driveway and phone and internet service restored our last year on the farm... after 15 freaking days!

I'll be damned if he should pay thr ridiculous amount that would cost to do their work!
