Here are some videos captured from Microsoft's Flight simulator 10(?). I don't remember laughing this hard since I saw Arsenic and Old Lace for the the first time. With this simulator players can be either the tower or a plane. - OGM

"I'M AIR FORCE ONE!" - Trolling in Flight Sim X (Night Mission CHAOS)
Published on Mar 4, 2017

I spawn in a random FSX multiplayer session and immediately identify myself as Air Force One. After receiving some questionable instructions from ATC, I assert my presidential authority by squawking 7500 (hijacking my own plane) and then demanding that all aircraft clear the runway. I end up botching the approach twice, but a little slew mode fixes that. Thanks for watching!

GLIDER Pilot Declares EMERGENCY! (Trolling in Flight Sim X Multiplayer)
Published on Jan 26, 2017

I join a random multiplayer session in Flight Simulator X (Steam Edition) in a DG Flugzeugbau glider as callsign "ACEFIGHTER" and declare an emergency shortly after spawning in the air. Rather than cooperating with me, some other pilots in the session decide to get snippy at which point the tower controller announces "every man for himself" and the session turns into a sh*tshow. Thanks for watching! (More below)

Holy crap, these are hilarious! Unfortunately, there are more videos by the same pilot, which will steal a large portion of my day, if I'm not careful. Thank you!

EAA at Oshkosh think this is live from the tower. Just heard something about a; "tail dragger to get off the run way?". A war bird just landed, had to do a fly by to prevent a mid air. It's a little busy today. They are lined up real close for landing. That ATC may have an ulcer before the weeks over. A few here may wish they were camped out under a wing. Enjoy - OGM

They just cut the live feed. In the last batch of planes to land were 3 P 51's coming in one after another followed by 4 old birds that landed in formation. Sigh...

Check out the passenger's expression as this police office addresses them as if he were a pilot doing preflight announcements. Who says police today don't have a sense of humor?

SR-71 Pilot Maury Rosenberg talks about the one time he decided to request a "fly-by" over the Sacramento airport on his way returning to Beale AFB- where he was going to land. The request was eagerly approved by air tower crew, and wanted them to fly "down the ramp" (much closer to the tower and other buildings)

My Dad belonged to the CAP. He flew search and rescue missions off the New Jersey coast. The single engine puddle hoppers he flew probably had a lot more to do with the search than the rescue. I've fuzzy childhood memories of an airplane he and friends restored and maintained for the CAP. Memories of their headquarters, a building with worn square tiled floors, the strong smell of air plane dope and an old tail dragger he proudly showed off to his daughter.

IMHO the Civil Air Patrol is history that deserves to be remembered.

WWII planes, pilots warm up for Friday flight over National Mall

WWII planes culpeper
World War II airplanes at Culpeper Airport, preparing to participate in Friday’s Arsenal of Democracy Flyover of the nation’s capital. (WTOP/Neal Augenstein)
The growls and whines of World War II-era planes were loud and the flying precise as dozens of planes ranging in size from one-seaters to a restored DC-3 airliner Miss Virginia did a dress rehearsal for Friday’s Arsenal of Democracy Flyover, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

At about 11:30 a.m. Friday, the planes will fly in highly restricted airspace, crossing the Capital Beltway near the American Legion Bridge, heading down the Potomac River, toward the National Mall.

High above Independence Avenue from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol, the planes will fly in historical formations past the nation’s monuments, before banking right and returning to the Manassas and Culpeper airports.

On Thursday, pilots and planes rehearsed their air ballet, drawing crowds to the two suburban Virginia airports.

Before taking off, pilots turned the propellers of their aging aircraft by hand as part of the safety inspection. Some older planes burped smoke as they first started, before settling into a rhythmic growl.

Some were inscribed with phrases from the 1940s: One read “Tuskegee Airmen,” the highly regarded group of African-American military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II.

After taking off Thursday, the planes headed toward D.C., but staged outside the Beltway.

On Friday, both Manassas and Culpeper airports will be closed to the public.

The flyover event will be livestreamed starting 10 a.m. Organizers hope people who want to see the flyover will wear face masks and find a vantage point along the Potomac rather than gathering on the National Mall.

Kennedy Steve is a very well known ATC who is a wizard at keeping ground traffic moving.

He does it with a sense of humor and flair.

It's absolutely fascinating to hear what goes on behind the scenes to keep all those planes going to the right place and not having traffic jambs or bumping each other.

And just when James thinks he's survived, Tom informs him the two will be going up again — this time in a jet fit for modern aerial warfare. The controller can only give him priority and call the fire trucks. The captain makes that call. Controller can go peck shit with the chickens. He’s in a comfortable chair in front of a TV screen on the ground. I have a huge hate for controllers. Especially Denver center and approach/departure. They suck. Sheppard approach is pretty bad also. It’s where they train military controllers.

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark, or even eagle flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Low Flight (poem for helicopter pilots)

Oh, I've slipped the surely bonds of earth
And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;
Earthward I've auto'ed and met the rising brush of Non-paved terrain;
And done a thousand things you would never care to

Skidded and dropped and flared Low in the heat soaked roar.
Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic And lost the race to insignificant Headwinds; Forward and up a little in ground effect I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns
Where never Skyhawk or even Phantom flew.

Shaking and pulling collective,
I've lumbered the low untresspassed halls of Victor Airways,
Put out my hand and touched a bush.
