Horehound Cough Syrup
1-1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup packed (about 20 grams) dried horehound
3/4 cup honey (approximately)
Directions: Place the water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, place the dried horehound in a heat-proof bowl or pan. Pour the boiling water over the herbs, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain. Measure the resulting infusion (you will have approximately 3/4 cup) and place it in a saucepan. Add an equal amount of honey to the pan and heat on medium until the honey is dissolved. Stir constantly to avoid scorching the honey and do not allow the mixture to boil. Cool and place in a glass jar (dark amber is best). Cover and store in the refrigerator.
Take 2 teaspoons three times per day.
