A federal judge has granted a motion to dismiss a challenge to Georgia's citizenship verification process, state officials said.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross granted Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's motion to dismiss.

"Ensuring that only U.S. citizens vote in our elections is critically important to secure and accurate elections," Raffensperger said in a statement. "Georgia's citizenship verification process is common sense and it works. With this ruling, we are able to continue ensuring that only U.S. citizens are voting in our elections."

The ruling in the Northern District of Georgia follows a September 2022 ruling by U.S. District Judge Steve Jones in favor of Raffensperger in another case Fair Fight Action filed. According to a release from Raffensperger's office, Ross' ruling will result in Georgia's citizenship verification processes remaining in place for the 2024 election.

"This is disappointing because it will potentially disenfranchise citizen voters who now have to jump through multiple bureaucratic hurdles to vote," Aunna Dennis, executive director of Common Cause Georgia, said in a statement to The Center Square. "It will also create shock waves that may chill other new voters from trying to vote, even when they are eligible.

"Sadly, Georgia's lawful voters will bear the brunt of anti-immigrant sentiments," Dennis added.

The group and the New Georgia Project, GALEO Latino Community Development Fund, ProGeorgia State Table, Asian-Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta and the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda filed the lawsuit, claiming Georgia's citizenship verification process violated the U.S. Constitution, the Voting Rights Act, and the National Voter Registration Act.

State officials previously confirmed to The Center Square that the earlier Fair Fight Action lawsuit left taxpayers with a roughly $6 million legal bill. A spokesperson from the state attorney general's office did not respond to a request for information on how much the state has spent defending the lawsuit.

Wikipedia (U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross)

On December 19, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Ross to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, to the seat vacated by Judge Charles A. Pannell Jr., who assumed senior status on January 31, 2013.[3] She received a hearing before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee on May 13, 2014.[4] On June 19, 2014, her nomination was reported out of committee by a voice vote.[5] On November 12, 2014, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed for cloture on her nomination. On November 17, 2014, the United States Senate invoked cloture on her nomination by a 66–29 vote.[6] On November 18, 2014, she was confirmed by a voice vote.[7] She received her judicial commission on November 20, 2014.[2]

This decision will likely be appealed to a higher court - possibly SCOTUS.

Raffi sounds a high ideal, but the REAL problem is he's trying to "cover up" the 2020 (and 2022) "steal." Going ahead with an election challenge will open the doors wide to a 2020 election examination.

Article never mentions what "onerous process" this verification is. Would be kinda handy to know and maybe pass along in other states.

Birth certificate should do it. The real ID drivers license in some states was being issued to illegal aliens and they did not have to jump threw all the hoops as We the People had to, just scribble here and they get handed a legal document that is showing them to United States Citizens when they are not.

Never understood this. Where I grew up, if someone attended a polling place on election day and was not enumerated on the poll list, Picture ID plus 3-3 utility bills and I think bank or CC statements verifying residence were required. Such requirements were well publicise so how is that "onerous"?

BTW: ONLY paper ballots c/w chain of custody docs from polling place up the line to the final count. Slower to be sure but pretty reliable and very few cases of ballots missing etc.

Not really slower. The outcome was always known by early the next day, not a couple weeks later like now, lol.

Can anybody tell me why the voting machines need "algorithms" when all they need to do is count????

Easy - that's to adjust as required.
Simple cumulative tabulation is pretty simple programming according to my wife.

I can do it in Excel so, it must be straight forward.

The “onerous” paperwork is as simple as checking a box saying you want to be registered to vote when you apply for or renew your driver’s license. You can also register to vote at government offices using the same paperwork that you have to provide to get your driver’s license.

What hurdles to vote? You need an ID to open a bank account, credit card, write a check, buy a car, buy a weapon, go to school, get a job, buy cigarettes or alcohol and drive a car.

Why is it so hard to show an ID for the most important of the rights - to prove you are who you say you are to vote? (dont answer that, it's rhetorical, I know the answer)

I would like for each state to issue a picture voter id card...and you have to prove citizenship to register to vote and have you voter card with you to vote.
Similar to the Mexican voter if card....

Who funded the communist side of the six million dollar legal bill?
