This is Josie. We had her for ten years, rescuing her from a farmer who was getting rid of her after she bit their inside dog, a tiny bichon frise who had escaped outside…and Josie assumed she was doing her job…
Josie had been taught to “get the kitty”, meaning catch the feral cats around the barn and hay stacks. She was three when we got her, and we lost her just over two years ago when we helped her cross the rainbow bridge.
She was the most patient, protective, loving, thoughtful puppers we ever had…and I still miss her Every. Single. Day.
This is Angel. Today is our 41st anniversary, and is also Angel’s first birthday.
Angel is such a good girl. Those bottomless, beautiful eyes are always watching over us…and I feel that Josie’s spirit is part of Angel’s makeup. She is close to ninety pounds now…and can pull like a bulldozer when she first gets outside on our long walks around the neighborhood.
Here’s Angel’s makeup, from her dad’s side.
Her mom is full gsd. Angel’s mostly gsd, but is part pit bull, lab, and retriever. The ears are telling. She is very smart, is continually picking up new words and meaning, and loves to play day or night. Such a good girl.
This is Molly the Hellhound. Our eldest granddaughter brought her over to us five days after we lost Josie. She put her down on the floor, and Molly ran to me and jumped in my lap. Instant love bug. She’s a pini-poo…a mini pincher and poodle mix. She is ferocious, and tells Angel what-for…all day long.
To her left is our house dragon, Godzilla. Godzilla is a three year old bearded dragon, and Annie’s personal reptile. She likes me too. Spends her days in the sunny window sill, but loves to go walk about in the entire house.
A closeup of her fuzzy face…
This is our tribe…our family…our posse. A mixed/blended family…and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
