I rarely eat fast food anymore; the prices have gotten way out of hand. Wendy's has their 4/$4 deal, and a $5 bag, but they and Taco Bell are pretty much the only places where you get get a cheap meal anymore. (The Taco Bell $5 special they have all the time is now $5.49.)

If you're 55 or older (or look it - no one asks for proof of age), there are a lot of places that give you a discount:

Restaurant Discounts for Seniors
There are also supermarkets, retail stores, and other places that give discounts to seniors. Check the full list here.

Many restaurants have senior days or early bird specials. We sometimes eat at a local Mexican restaurant that offers half-price entrees to seniors on Tuesday evenings. DH and I can both eat, if we drink water which is free with the meal, for about $8 total and have plenty of food leftover to take home in a box for another meal later. The local Bob Evans that went belly-up during Covid used to have senior hours where meals were discounted for seniors. We routinely eat lunch at Wendy's where we can get Senior coffee for free.

Don't think I've ever taken a senior discount in my life.
In general, I don't have the patience to mess with that kind of stuff - life is complicated enough. If I can't afford it, I don't do it. :shr:

It’s done for you automatically now at the register if you go to Walgreens every Tuesday. It’s done on your “savings card” thing, like the Kroger cards you scan at the register.

I think CVS has this now as well, along with their house brands all receive % off at the register. I found that out from their rep the day they were in there promoting the new discount thing.

It is for Goodwill on Tuesday’s… 10% off

It varies by location. It's Wednesdays here, and there's also a discount for military and students. I'm really friendly and nice to the cashiers, and was actually able to get both the senior and the student discount combined when I was studying for my second master's degree. :D
