Help Cure for gout

Richard

I recently had a very bad attack of gout, my foot was so swollen that I thought I'd sprained it or broken a bone, was given some tablets which have sorted most of it. This was about 3 weeks ago.
However I'm still left with residual gout in my finger which is getting worse, has anyone got a cure for it, e.g. healthfood or advice etc. I have given up drinking and do not eat the foods normally associated with gout.

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard besides the cherry juice and make sure it's 100% cherry, Gout is to much uric acid in the blood. Baking soda mixed in water can relieve gout joint pain almost instantly and reduce high uric acid. In some cases it may take up to two days to experience relief; however, if taken regularly, it will prevent attacks before they occur. Mix 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in 8 oz. of water and drink it all at once. The maximum recommended dose is 4 teaspoons divided up throughout the day during an acute attack. Then reduce the dose as the pain subsides. Baking soda can raise the blood pressure. Persons taking medication for hypertension should consult a health practitioner before using baking soda in this manner.

thanks I am taking bendroflumethiazide to lower my BP, which may cause or aggravate gout according to one website, but have been taking it for a couple of years

should imagine that taking the baking soda for a day or so will not affect my BP, I can monitor it

I'll definitely try the cherry juice

thanks

Another one is lemon juice and baking soda.... acidic lemon juice with the highly alkaline baking soda creates a perfectly balanced pH that matches the body's natural healthy pH, which helps to restore balance almost instantaneously. Take the juice of one lemon - about 2 oz. - into a tall glass. Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and allow it to fizz and bubble until it is completely flat about two minutes or so. It can also be stirred. Add 8 oz. of water and drink immediately. It should taste like flat water.

actually thinking about it, I had been taking blue green algae tablets, only one or two a day for years thinking they were a good health food, I stopped taking them as I couldn't obtain any, then I got the attack of gout, I think the algae was probably keeping my body sufficiently alkaline or at least my body got used to them, I am now using spirulina powder (the same thing?) instead which may help

...Gout is caused by a iodine deficiency. That was the reason why iodized salt was developed. Gout was of epidemic proportions in this country long ago. Kelp tablets contain iodine.

Neither here nor there.

Wrong and anyone taking your advice could end up seriously hurting themselves!!!

Algae and spirulina powder are not the same thing.

Hi had another attack of gout, my foot swelled up similar to the last bout, someone suggested tonic water

tried it, also took Ibuprofen and cherry juice but the gout has very quickly subsided overnight, must be the tonic water

Get off all meats and seafoods and go vegetarian, (plant proteins like hemp powder/nuts) exercise and drink water.....if you weigh 200 lbs you need 100 oz of water a day. So take your weight, divid in half and make the number of ounces you need to drink of water/day.
Of you don't do above then try the cherry juice.

I had a word with my doc, she told me to stop taking the bendroflumethiazide BP reduction tablet and monitor my BP to make sure it doesn't go up again

I have tried drinking loads of water and cherry juice, BTW I've virtually given up alcohol, but never used to get gout except the occasional twinge

the bouts have also coincided with not being able to obtain blue green algae which I took on a daily basis, have managed to get some now, that might have something to do with it

final word, although I had restarted taking algae tablets I still got occasional outbreaks of gout, however I switched to a different brand which seems identical to that I was buying previously from Holland and Barrett in the UK although it is branded American Health not Holland and Barrett, but the tablets taste the same and general style of the label is identical, anyhow they seem to have got rid of my gout, so I will be sticking with these in the future, I don't think the sea kelp helped in my case and I'm not sure whether cherry juice helped

GOUT CONFUSED WITH GOITER IN THIS THREAD?

Gout and goiter confused....
Just happened on this thread, and wanted to add that Pantothenic Acid ... vitamin B5
helps with the excretion process of excess uric acid.
High blood levels of uric acid may cause crystals to deposit in the body’s tissues, especially in joints causing pain that is associated with GOUT.

GOITER is an inflamation of the thyroid, which is often caused by iodine deficiency.
Totally different condition.

Do a search on goiter and iodized salt and a search on gout and iodized salt. Both conditions stem from the thyroid and both can be mitigated and/or cured with iodized salt. Both are partially or completely caused by iodine deficiency.
