Hi all. There are a million and one Crock Pot recipes on the WWW and in books etc. Some are great, and some well...let's just say average.

I would love to hear what your favorite ones are.

My favorite is in a box in my garage right now. (we moved but don't ask me when lol) I can't post it right now. But I'll try later. It's for pepper steak...yum.

What really sold me on crock pot cooking was turkey legs!!

When I was young and dirt poor, turkey legs could be bought at the store for really cheap. But when cooked they were like rubber on a stick!!

I put a couple in my crockpot ( a large one) and added a healthy dose of my favorite bar-b-que sauce. I let it cook on low all day and when I get home... ummmm.... it's fallin off the bone!!

You can also use a can of stewed tomatoes instead of the b-b-q sauce. No need to add any water.

Try it... you'll be amazed!

Whatcha,

I never thought of turkey legs.

Something I have done is put a raw tri-tip (beef roast) in the crockpot along with a bottle of BBQ sauce. After cooking all day on low, the meat just falls apart. It makes great BBQ beef sandwiches!

Yep, turkey legs are delicious in the cp. You can use any cut of meat you want and it is always tender.

Here is my stew recipe that my son raves about. Use the amounts as a guideline. Some people like more carrots and some like less. Same with the onions. I always put more veggies in than this recipe calls for.

CROCK POT STEW

3 carrots, sliced 3 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 stalk celery, chopped 3 onions, peeled and chopped
2 pounds beef chuck or stew meat, cut in 1 inch cubes, browned
2 cups beef broth 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon paprika salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in crock pot and stir to mix well.
Cover and cook on low 10-12 hours, or on high 4-5 hours.
The longer it cooks, the better it tastes.
If you like a thicker stew, add 1/2 cup quick-cooking tapioca or another kind of thickener. You can also add less broth.
I make this same recipe on the stove top once in awhile, but it doesn't taste the same.

Enjoy!! :)

I've cooked this many times...

CROCKPOT FRENCH DIP ROAST BEEF

1 (3-4 pound) boneless chuck roast, trimmed
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 beef bouillon cube
1 bay leaf
3 or 4 peppercorns
1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
water
CRUSTY sandwich rolls, split and toasted

Place roast in slow cooker. Combine soy sauce and
next six ingredients; pour over roast. Add water to
slow cooker until roast is almost covered. Cook,
covered on low at least 7 hours or all day. Remove
roast, reserving broth; shred roast with a fork. Place
roast in rolls and serve with reserved broth for
dipping. Yield: approximately 8 servings.
