cinnamon for cramps

I just read in Woman's World that cinnamon is good for getting rid of menstrual cramps. I wish I would have know this sooner!!! I have been getting terrible cramps, sometimes for two weeks before my period and I hate taking medicine all the time. I just ordered cinnamon capsules for my son who is diabetic. It is supposed to lower blood sugar, so I got it in case TSHTF and he has trouble getting his insulin. But I would never have thought about it doing other things too. Here is what I found on the internet about it.

Cinnamon’s other benefits include:

* Supports digestive function
* Constricts and tones tissues
* Relieves congestion
* Relieves pain and stiffness of muscles and joints
* Relieves menstrual discomfort
* Blood-thinning compounds that stimulate circulation
* Anti-inflammatory compounds that may relieve arthritis
* Helps prevent urinary tract infections, tooth decay and gum disease
* It’s a powerful anti-microbial agent that can kill E. coli and other bacteria

You can also just use 1 teaspoon of cinnamon on toast to get the benefits too. Guess I'm going to have to try some!!

This is great information. Thankyou for posting it. I'll have to give it a try for the anti-inflammatory effects...sure would be nice to find something that works since I am not allowed to take aspirin or motrin.

It is also a really good cure for diarrhea. Cinnamon tea is good or sometimes I tincture it.

Delicious in hot chocolate, too.

Dinghy, have you checked into Jerusalem Artichokes for your son? I don't know enough about it to say more than I have heard that the inulin is beneficial.

Something that has worked as well for me as ibuprofen is homeopathic Magnesium Phosphate. I do better taking a "wet dose" than the dry pills. I dissolve a few pills in a fresh bottle of spring water (pour a little water off first). Before each time you take a sip (e.g., a teaspoons worth) you MUST shake it vigorously - do this by pounding the bottle against your palm about 20 times. Repeat as needed, which for me is every few hours.

Hi Spinner, I have read that the artichokes are good for diabetics. I planted them 2 years ago, but they aren't doing very good. They were a little better last year, so maybe it just takes awhile for them to get established.
