SCIENTISTS have warned that Christmas lights are bad for the planet due to huge electricity waste and urged people to get energy efficient festive bulbs.

Is "festive bulbs" the PC term for Christmas lights?

Reminds me of a Chinese fellow who visited our family back in the 60s. He brought as a gift a string of "festival lights" (which is indeed a strange gift). Only it took quite a while to figure out he wasn't saying "vegetable lights".

However, I do like the LED lights I put up this year. They are not as bright.
