RACE WAR Chest rigs are a fashion statement now

Talk is cheap
One of my Uncles (long dead) was career Navy, and he ALWAYS carried a purse. Dad said back in the Dark Ages when they were in the military that their uniforms didn't have pockets. When my Uncle finally retired, he still carried his purse and would never put anything in his pockets. I miss him like crazy.

I bet you do! The times are SO different now, with all of the current and recent events...many factors, including a bigger number of "hostile environments" and increased animosity.

This is a weird trend, with the current climate.

I've been thinking about getting a "chest rig" for around the house, easier to carry that way.

I actually picked one up recently to try out around the farm. When you're dripping in sweat, crawling under a baler, etc, etc, a holster on the belt gets to be a PIA, and I even hate to subject my Glock to it day after day. They are popular with backpackers that prefer to carry concealed. I just got a velcro magazine pouch in the mail so it's ready to try out.

This is the one that I picked up: http://www.hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1/ProductID/37

Hill People gear.

I wear the Hill People Gear stubby kit bag/chest pack pretty much all the time. It’s especially good when I run or in gym clothes. It’s not huge but I carry a full size Glock 17 in it plus my wallet a spare mag, small flash light and some times a my little pony doll or two when the Littles get tired or packing them. It’s not a fashion statement for me it’s a matter of practical and easy.

Probably a desensitizing/response test. They walk around like that for a couple months. Gauge the responses from people and LE alike. Then once everyone is used to it and the police don’t respond as fast, that’s when they load them up for an attack.

You said very eloquently what I thought after reading OP. They are up to something.
