I received two text messages this morning from different phone numbers (area codes were Lebanon, MO). These texts did not say anything but there is a download. I have not downloaded them but am curious as to what they might be. Any ideas?

I googled them and they came up from the same area. After researching, they belong to an old acquaintance of a relative to whom I gave my phone number a couple of years ago. Later today another number of a mutual acquaintance texted me with the same "download". I am assuming that the first number was hijacked by a virus and all of this person's contacts were virused ( New word :) ) then the third number downloaded the virus and that person's contacts were virused. Which included my number again. I deleted all three texts without downloading them.
Thank you both for your willingness to help!!! :)

You used good judgment not to automatically download it. As a general rule - never download. The exception would be if you know the person sending it and can confirm with them that they sent it and they want you to open it. that will save you a lot of headaches!

I'm going to assume that person tried to send a picture message and your phone didn't support the format or size or was in a no-data coverage area at the time. Happens sometimes that I want to send a pic to my wife and coverage is less than perfect where she works, so she just receives a message saying 'media content in this message, click to download'. Perfectly harmless in that case.
