My car shakes like crazy when accelerating ... I have to let off of the gas a bit till it stops and slowly build my speed up. Shakes so much my muffler fell off Any Idea's what the problem could be?

Perhaps a motor mount?

I would suspect a possible cord separation in one of the front tires. also check the alignment.

The best answers have been given. If front wheel drive it could be a cv joint. It could be bad plugs or wires if the motor is missing also.

Could also be a bad shock absorber or front end/steering components. Do you want to do this repair yourself?

Does it only shake in a certain speed range or all the time? If it shakes as you accelerate and then settles down as you go faster, then you may want to check your wheel balance. I have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and this will happen if the wheel(s) throw a weight.

It shakes when I accelerate then settles down then if I accelerate more starts shaking again then settles down ... take a while to get up to speed.

Found out is was the brackets and springs that broke to the back wheel supports, both sides, so had to have them replaced.
