Sounds good to me ways to use canned chicken. One comment from the video was to drain the chicken and cook it to help eliminate the texture of the chicken right out of the can.
Yes and DH may think that to at some point. I do like some of the suggestions, like fried rice and pasta salad. DH not so much.I Have a good amount of canned chicken in my preps pantry. I am sure, in the right circumstances, it will be delicious
For the pasta salad try different salad dressings or a combo of dressings. Try different kinds of shredded cheese, learn from my mistakes, make sure the pasta is cooled before adding the cheese. Like a lettuce salad, you can add things like diced olives, diced eggs, bacon bits, different kinds of diced onions, or many other things.Yes and DH may think that to at some point. Since you mentioned home canned chicken (and I didn't want to start an entire thread for this question) - I plan on canning up a bunch of broth the day after thanksgiving (I have a couple back of chicken parts - raw) - Is it safe to add the cooked turkey carcass to the pot? I would think it wouldn't be an issue - but it would allow me to make more stock...I love my home canned chicken meat. I use it for chicken enchiladas, chicken salad, chicken pot pie, in casseroles, etc. I agree with Southern Breeze, you can use it in any recipe that calls for cooked chicken. I'd be shocked if anyone could tell the difference. The glass canning jars do not leave any metallic taste. It's easy to pressure can.
I always use the turkey carcass to make stock a day or two after Thanksgiving. I put the carcass in a stock pot, add water to cover, and let it simmer until the carcass is falling apart, usually a couple of hours. I strain the liquid through some cheese cloth and refrigerate it until the next day. I remove the solidified fat layer the next day, and then re-heat it and can it in the pressure canner.Since you mentioned home canned chicken (and I didn't want to start an entire thread for this question) - I plan on canning up a bunch of broth the day after thanksgiving (I have a couple back of chicken parts - raw) - Is it safe to add the cooked turkey carcass to the pot? Good to know! I don’t use a ton of canned chicken, but I keep a goodly stock of it on hand. Canned chicken pizza crust is actually *really* good!I read an article a while back eating the top 10 canned chicken brands deemed best for Keto. Costco’s Kirkland brand was #3. Their price fell recently from something like $16.99 to $12.99. I’m buying them like crazy, but I end up eating them instead of storing them. I’m really trying to stock up on these while the price is so low. But it’s so fast to throw the chicken mixed with a little spaghetti sauce and cheese or my new favorite stir-in…. Boursin cheese. I’m simple. I like it all.
Use the secret sauce, hunger. When it is all there is, it will undoubtedly be delicious!!
