Bush wins

I'm seeing 269 electorial votes to Bush--one vote short of a win. If Kerry took everything still outstanding it would be a tie, but Bush is taking New Mexico. Nevada may yet fall to Bush, but it won't make any difference. Either one alone would give it to Bush, but I think Bush has New Mexico and it is in the bag and I'm going to bed.

Come on Kerry, surprise me in the morning!

I notice Iowa is 91% counted and Bush leads by 5,000. He'll likely take that state along with NM. Nevada can go for Kerry and give my wife a consolation prize. It won't make any difference.

I'll lay my money on legal challenges in the morning. That is when the fun will begin. CNN took Ohio off and put it back into too close to call. Ohio and Iowa declare no certification until tomorrow.

Run the odds. You have the president up by approximately 125,000 votes, with MAYBE 250,000 left to count. Of those 250K, most are reportedly in or near Cincy and Dayton, (and not Cleveland as falsely reported on some networks). Cincy is heavily Republican. It isn't going to happen, and the margin is insufficient to even require a count of the provisional ballots. Absentee will of course be counted, but will not change this sort of margin, as absentee in Ohio is going Republican also. The Demoncrats are about to make real asses of themselves trying to call this close. IF they are fool enough to send their go team and litigate a phantom, they are going to spend a LOT of political currency with this nation. Go for it.

Now. The President is going to take New Mexico and Iowa, by all accounts, and not so squeaky close as to give uncle sKerry's Litigator Farm a bite. Maybe even Nevada.

Pack it in until Hellary loses in 2008, losers. We The People have spoken, (and, thank God, apparently still, by just enough margin, have a collective morality above the average dog, with the brains God gave gopher).

What a relief. Now I can go back to constructive criticism of my President...

Good morn'

Gee what a surprise (NOT). Kerry's contesting Ohio.

My numbers were off of MSN, which interestingly enough still has Bush with 269 this morning. Looks like he got Iowa and Nevada. I haven't checked NM.

Man, Delta. What's with the revised title? Learn to stick with your instincts. You made a good call way earlier than most.

I think my numbers speak for themselves by now, bipshoft, but I was simply paying attention and gathering information from all available sources, and knew when it was over.

The networks, (as usual), were hedging sKerry's bet for him and refusing to call what they had to know was inevitable. I see their true colors, including Rather's rosy red.

I strongly disagree, mbo. It wasn't going to happen without the Dems throwing the perverts and the baby-killers overboard. Listen to the rumble - people voted on "moral issues". The Agenda has been slowed just a bit.

We might even run a conservative next term...

Oh-ohhhh. I just noticed DENNIS is responsible for editing the title THIS MORNING! Very bad form, Dennis. Would you mind correcting that prejudicial error, my friend? I know you swing the hammer here, but with that hammer comes a responsibility to equity.

Thanks, and sorry for assuming it was you, Delta.

When I edited that title, it was right. Members can edit their own posts for 24 hours BTW.

I removed the NOT YET from the title however, as Kerry conceded.

Actually, my original title for this thread was "I say Bush has it". Had I left it that way there probably would not have been a controversy. However, soon thereafter in a rush of ego juice I referred to the thread as "my 'Bush wins' thread" in another thread--and then got to thinking that I'd better change this thread title to match what I said. So I changed it to "Bush wins", which was a bit strong for the facts, but at the time it did reflect my interpretations of events: that Bush had Ohio and that Iowa was going to give him enough electorial votes to assure him the win.

As far as I'm concerned Dennis was justified in modifiying the title as my "analysis" was a bit over the top with Ohio quivering in the spotlight. By now this is all a moot point. I do not expect an interview with Wall Street Journal or anything like that.

At least now it is "explained" so it doesn't have to be moved to Unexplained. (Joke).

Thanks Dennis and thanks Delta, for the explanations. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I just thought Delta deserved credit for being astute enough to call it early, and for having the stones to post it. The point, Delta, is that your juice was working...
