Building a go-cart

I am thinking of letting my boys build a go-cart. They want to buy one (over a thousand-I don't think so) but the experience would be great to piece one together.

Have you ever built one? Do I need to have parts welded? Where would be a good place to start?

The boys are 13, 10 and 8.

Thanks.

Do you have money?

You can find all of the pieces in a Northern Tool catalog, even a Build Your Own Go Kart manual for $9.99. They also sell an assortment of completed Karts, which seem expensive to me.

Go to www.northerntool.com and check it out.

If you can't afford to buy all the pieces, you'll end up doing some fabricating and parts-scrounging. Should be educational.

Of course, you can google search images for "Go Kart" and find really creative ideas...

In any case, have fun. :D
