Compost Better Than a rocket stove greenhouse heat

Interesting! I wish he had given the inside temperature of the greenhouse in a couple places, to give some idea of how warm it was inside.

Ok, what I did instead of that was filled a cylinder of chicken wire about 4x4x3 feet with alternating layers of chicken waste and leaves and put it inside in the middle of the greenhouse. I am going to see if that will work. With all that fresh poo, it ought to heat up pretty quick! I will post later and let y'all know what happens.

Bringing leaves into your greenhouse will promote fungus and bacterial disease.

P.S. A rocket stove is no good for heating a greenhouse. Radiant heat isn't helpful with a glass or plastic roof.

I wonder if this will only work if there is snow insulating the compost. I've seen the same principle demonstrated from the Victorian age gardens but there is always snow. That is probably why it won't work in a rain-soaked winter garden in the South.

1000 btu per ton at best.

A small 12x40 greenhouse will need about 30k but per hour.

So get your 30 tons about about 3 tandem dump truck loads. Or you can burn 300 bucks in propane.
