Do any of you know if west Knoxville would be a safe place for my niece to stay? She is heading from Maryland down here to Memphis to visit my wife, and bringing her two children. She hopes to find a place and move off the east Coast, but first she has to drive down here.

Is there a safer place she can stop for the night, as the trip is too long for her to drive in one trip.

I live just South of Knoxville. West Knoxville is a good place for her to stay. Farragut and the Turkey Creek area have great restaurants and good hotels. She would do well to stay in that area. Have her stay away from East Knox and South Knox.

just make damn sure the HOTEL << not a freaking "motel" >> has those outdoor security locks on the access doors working 100% - also make sure the hotel doesn't isolate her on one of the upper floors - make sure to use that bar/chain lock at all times .....

All cities have their good and bad areas but I would think that Knoxville would be safer than Memphis.
Memphis has a very high murder rate.

We stayed in a hotel in W. Knoxville a handful of years ago for the eclipse. Seemed like a decent area, near I-140 and I-40/I-75 interchange.

If she is going to Memphis, Knoxville is the least of your worries.

I was just through Knoxville and traffic as wicked bad. Way home we took to the state roads and avoided it. Agree on MEMHIS is WAY WORSE on safety.
