A Michigan man has been arrested after he allegedly beat his 72-year-old roommate to death during a dispute over Taco Bell, authorities said.
On Jan. 31, Mark Newsome, 54, and his elderly roommate, Dale Mitchell, got into an argument that turned physical in Roseville, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
WJBK-TV reported that food from Taco Bell sparked the dispute between the pair.
Mitchell died from injuries sustained when Newsome allegedly punched him in the head multiple times during the fight, authorities alleged.
Another of the pair's roommates at the boarding house, Larry Melton, told WJBK-TV, “There was blood all over upstairs.”
The station reported a fourth roommate, Bob McQuade, called the alleged altercation and it's aftermath "inconceivable."
“To think a fight over food would escalate into murder," McQuade said.
Newsome was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the deadly incident.
He was booked into the Macomb County jail, where he was being held without bond.
