$20 WEEKLY PREP CHALLENGE-FEB 5-11

Kind of a slow week unless you wanted to stock up on junk food. This is what I came up with:

WALGREENS--
2 cans tiny shrimp--2/3.00
4 cans 12 oz hormel roast beef--1.99 with in ad coup--4/7.96

WINN DIXIE--
del monte spaghetti sauce-26 oz can-1/1--2/1.19

HITCHCOCKS--
campbell chunky soup-5/5.00 + .75/3 coup--3/2.25
bush's best beans (black)--.50---5/2.50

PUBLIX--
6 pack Mott's applesauce-1.50 + .55/1 coup--2/1.90
Mt. Olive pickles-1/1 + 2 .55/1 coup--2/1.09
1 ramen-.15

TOTAL---20.04

The shrimp is for fried rice. The roast beef is for beef stroganoff (add cream of mushroom soup and some spices, sour cream helps) or carne asada tacos (add some cumin and chili powder and serve with flour tortillas) or just plain over rice or mashed potatoes.

The soup continues to be a good deal. This is the time of year when it is cheap. The beans don't go on sale very often, so it was a good deal. The applesauce is a versatile fruit and easy to serve since it is the individual cups.

Still waiting for more veggies to go on sale. After week 13, I will post a quarterly update and see how we are progressing on the one year plan.

I like to increase savings by using coupons, but didn't find many sale items for which I also had coupons.

Starkist solid white tuna, 6 oz cans 2 @ $1.00 each = $2.00

Store brand hot chocolate mix, 10 pack - $1.00

Dinty Moore stew, 24 oz., 2 @ $2.00 each = $4.00

Spagettios 2 @ $1.00 each = $2.00

Tuttorosso spagetti sauce, 26 oz, $1.00 each x 2 minus 2 $.50 coupons = 2 for $1.00

Campbell's chunky chili, 2 for $3.00 minus a coupon for 2 minus $.75 = 2 for $2.25

Store brand pasta, 3 pound boxes, 5 for $2.00

Store brand pineapple, 20 oz cans, 2 @ $1.00 each = $2.00

Store brand mandarin oranges, 11 oz cans, 3 for $1.98

Snow's ready to serve clam chowder, 15 oz, 2 @ $1.00 each = $2.00

Total = $20.23

The Meijers here are selling them 5/$1.00!!! This includes corn, green beans, mixed vegies, and peas. They are selling the diced tomatoes 5/$2.00.

I came out with several flats in my cart! Best $20 I spent in a while! I'm gonna try talking DH into going into town Saturday and get some more!
