I found this poor sad car in a front yard in OKC last year. It took a few trys to make contact with the owner. Meth was running rampant in that house for sure! Anyway, gave $500 and limped it home. It's a 4-door, factory V8 (304). Not long after I got it home, the ignition box died.
I've done a total upgrade of the early prestolite system by replacing all of it. A 78 and newer Distributor(motorcraft type), a MSD coil, and a Summit racing CDI box. Also from summit, a dist cap and rotor(ford type) and adapter to use on the AMC/Jeep dist. I'm such a sucker for projects...

i've had quite a few Jeeps and Javelins back in the 80s. 69 Jav with the 390 and a 74 Jav with the 360 4V. This Hornet is plauged with ignition system problems, mainly the early prestolite cdi box. They are know to be lousy(Presto! No spark). I just replaced the cdi with a Summit unit, the coil with a MSD, and a 78 and newer dist which is a motorcraft unit. Still no spark to the plugs so I'm looking for other gremlins in my installation of the new box. It requires a switched 12v lead. Thought I had one ,but looks like it's time to get busy with the multi-tester. Where's a NASCAR crew-chief when I need one??
