18 Products Made From Trash

My Note: Found this doing some research and it turned out to be long but very interesting. No, I'm not a tree-hugging lib eco-freak, far from it, but I am interested in various business models and how to get the biggest bang from your buck from all materials. Just some interesting modeling and some different entrepreneurs.

Runtime: 2:32:34

We make 2 billion metric tons of garbage every year. People, companies, and governments all over the world are using old and new technologies to turn that trash into treasure. Whether it’s bricks made from milk cartons or eyeglasses made from coffee grounds, here’s how people around the globe deal with World Wide Waste.
00:00:33 Human Hair Mats (absorb oil spills in the Gulf)
00:09:17 Flip-Flop Art Kenya (some pretty cool artwork)
00:17:19 Coconut Briquettes (this young man has it going on)
00:25:11 Sugarcane Plates (uses the waste from the sugar cane fields to make disposable products)
00:35:52 Glass Sand (I know these two partners are young and probably lib, but they do have some gumption and motivation)
00:43:39 Fruit Pulp Firewood (this is a cool idea)
00:51:55 Skateboard Bowls
00:59:18 Fishskin Leather (er ... weird but cool, very niche)
01:06:38 Milk Carton Bricks (excellent idea)
01:14:52 Coffee Grounds Eyeglasses (Ukraine and they look like Urkel glasses)
01:25:34 Steel Recycling
01:30:52 PVC Pipes Laundry Basket (not just laundry baskets but furniture as well. Take old PVC and stretch it to recycle it)
01:41:44 Elephant Dung Paper (niche, kinda touristy but it works for them)
01:52:49 Plastic From Seaweed
02:01:12 Tofu Into Gas
02:09:32 Roof Waste (now this is definitely something that should be developed, especially here in Florida)
02:20:19 Water Hyacinth (niche, but perhaps other uses could be found)
02:25:40 Acid Mine Drainage

FYI in Indycar racing they are now using a green sidewall tire, along with red, black and I think yellow. Each color stands for the hardness or softness of the tread.

Green side wall means the tire has been made from recycled material. Green - get it.

Made by Firestone.
