Good for you! I do that sort if thing when I can... just basic humanity. I knew I'd raised my kids right when my youngest son came home after a track meet with a half gallon of ice cream. I asked, "why?" As we had several cartons in the freezer. He said, "mom, I had to! There was this little old man who thought he could get a single carton for half price, because they were "buy one, get one". But they wouldn't let him do that. So I bought 2, and gave him the free one"...Went to our central Indiana Kroger today for the first time in almost two weeks.
It was super stocked but I didn’t check every aisle, of course.
Prices were sky high as usual in beef, but I snooped around for random items…I’m seeing increases at least by 10-30 cents.
Sad little side story ….I was poking around the meat area, making my choices. An elderly man using a scooter was there too , he had a foreign accent similar to Eastern Europe. Poor thing. He was just lost. He started asking me about different cuts, how to use them or what was what.
The main issue was what he could afford.
Long story short, I was able to help him a little, told him which ones were wayyy too pricey for what you get, which ones were tough, so on and so one….he was really wanting a little bit of stew meat…found some! An ghtght d marked down too!
so I snooped further, finding him two little strip steaks half off at the very end of the case! He was just thrilled bless his heart, the smile on his face was worth the the trip, alone.
