DEPLORABLE ME
I'm just REALLY REALLY curious about those bad mouthing PDJT and the coming election, who out there running for President would you vote for instead? What's that? I can't hear you?

Seriously, qwitcher bitchen, we have the best man possible but he's not perfect and surrounded by those who would do anything, ANYTHING! Including kill millions of us to make him look bad. Some of you need a backbone to stop your wavering and quivering. If he did everything you're asking for you'd probably come up with more reasons to hate on him....

And if the math holds true, thousands a day will be dieing, for a while......with hundreds of thousands laid up. Then the second and third waves.....that may take a heavier toll than the first and attack younger folks in those rounds, that's the perspective I see in my rear view mirror in the coming months. Not to mention all the dominoes falling in every direction simultaneously..........mad max does ring likely.
The hundreds of thousands laid up is what everyone should worry about. If this comes to pass, we will have issues here in the USA...

Sorry Darlin but when I look at the DEATH TOLLS

the mass graves

and the Chinese nurses and doctors crying in hysterics

I don't see much of anything funny about all this

Big difference between black humor among medical / first responder types and humor that's mocking. I was just a few minutes ago telling my husband he should have heard some of the black humor voiced over the beds of dying babies as a coping mechanism to maintain sanity. Laughter is good medicine and better to try to find something that even in the darkest times will elicit a guffaw or groan. It often isn't understood if one isn't on the front lines, but when you have multiple babies die per shift and grieving parents to deal with on an empty stomach, full bladder, sweating under heat lamps (a chair was thrown under me once before I passed out as I was headed toward the floor and thank God I didn't completely as it was a code), then anything to chuckle at helps, but not mocking or snarkiness.

Presumed positive in Frisco, Tx...That's where I was on the floor of the hospital last month. This thing is getting a little too close for comfort! Also, one of my training colleagues revealed to me that she lives in Houston and drives back down there every weekend or 2 and that the rodeos going on for the next few months.

And about 20 miles from my son and pregnant DIL....

Getting to close....

The son and I were talking about this earlier.... They are staying in as much as possible and will bug out when the risk increases....

BUSES??!! It's not just the population which is immunologically naive. They had damn well better not bus people to Texas and/or Georgia. They did say flights, and I am hoping that tx and ga are included in 'flights'. Bloody hell.

I assume they will bus them to Travis Air Force Base where planes will be waiting. Standard Operating Procedure during Vietnam. Spent some time on that tamarack waiting my turn. Travis AFB can handle it.

I’m surrounded!

Another county just a few miles w from me.
I couldn't find it either, no media picked up on it and the WHO website has nothing? Can anyone confirm besides tweets?
I think this is where it started...

Apologies and clarification: WHO says threat of COVID-19 pandemic is “very real,” but hasn’t formally declared it a pandemic. https://twitter.com/WHO/status/1237049835099959302… Screenshot below for transparency.

Hey NCGirl,
You mentioned a couple/few days ago that you had a sore throat and a headache? Did you determine if it was allergies or a cold or are you feeling better? Sure hope you're feeling better.

I'm just feeling kinda sorry for ol Poppy and the rest that keep coming on this thread making fun of those who are concerned. You have to be in a pretty sad place to take pleasure in making fun of others.

Bless their hearts, I just feel badly for them.. :(

It's a defense mechanism. Are they trying to convince us or themselves?

I have no reason to even dislike the President.... but there are many who are rabidly against him.

My alphabet friend that worked on a WMDs project said chem and bio were the hardest to detect and deter. From what I know from education and experience, by the time you realize you really need to bug out, you're probably about 2 weeks too late. The last week of January became the serious time to lock down as much as possible in my house. Since then it's been a couple very careful grocery store trips and Lowe's. YMMV, but better early than too late.

Rush is in a "calm the herd" mode today and is straying quite a ways from truth. He says that Saudi is trying to hurt Russia and it is not aimed at us. This is wrong. They do want to hurt Russia but US shale production is an even bigger problem for them so it is also aimed at us. He said that gas may fall 10c or 15c per gallon but if oil is down 30+% than it should be 45c to 60c. That is minor but shows a lack of real analysis. He is minimizing the virus problems and expects a great recovery in a few months with gas down and not too large a problem from coronavirus. I hope he is right but really do not think so. He seems to be echoing Trump and, in this case, they are both risking a lot of credibility if wrong. The left and the right are trying to control the narrative and truth is getting very hard to find. Cheer-leading is fine for sports but in real life can be disastrous.

Yep, wasting your breath, brainpower and time. I stopped bothering with those online or IRL who keep insisting it's not as bad as the flu.... or whatever. They are running with the herd and are unable to see or hear with all the thundering hoofs surrounding them going in whatever direction the sheep dogs are guiding them.

v: I am trying to catch up on this thread as are many.

Last night I read this from Aesop at Raconteur Report.

Brutal, vulgar, offensive to some... you have been warned. It is also better read at the site. It is written at a level that can be understood by the most resistant. IMO it depicts the situation with which we are dealing. Again... you have been warned. Here is what I copied last night... if it is to coarse for the forum consumption mods please delete:

I give ****-all about how many people the flu killed last year, FFS.
It has an average annual lethality of 0.1%
For Common Core grads, that means it'll kill maybe 1 person in 1000 who gets it.

Bog-standard coronavirus (like Kung Flu - we hope) kills between 2 and 4% of those who get it. I've averaged that range to the 3%, right in the middle.
For Common Core grads, that means it'll kill 1 person in 33 who gets it.

So, tell me again, using mathematics, WTF I should be more worried about the flu.
Show your work.

The Kung Flu is multiple times easier to catch than the flu, and 30 times as deadly.
So if, e.g., last year in the U.S., with a vaccine every year for decades, flu killed 50,000 people, we can expect Kung Flu, with no vaccine whatsoever, possibly ever, to kill 1,500,000 people. (30 X 50,000 = 1,500,000)
Common Core grads may now take their shoes off for assistance in the mathematical portion of the lesson.

Flu: 50,000
Kung Flu: 1,500,000
One of these is bigger.
Common Core grads may now use one of their lifelines to get a hint which is which.

Flu kills about 1000 people a week.
Kung Flu will kill, on average, 4000 people a day, if it spreads only as well as the flu, and infects as many people as the flu, with "only" a 3% lethality.
Common Core grads may now use one of their remaining lifelines to figure out which one of these is worse.

If
it spreads fully nationwide, amidst a U.S. population of 330M, that would amount to almost 10,000,000 people dead.
That's 4X the annual deaths we have every year from all causes, combined.
It's 1918 Spanish Flu territory. It's 10 WWIIs, in one year. It's 200 Vietnam Wars, in 1 year.

So sharpen your pencils, and walk up to the chalkboard, and see if you can tell me when the penny will finally drop for the retard posse.

The problem isn't that coronavirus has "only" killed 17 people, so far. The problem is, it's still throwing warm up pitches. The game isn't even going yet.

Still only means a couple of weeks to a month of feeling crappy for 300M other people who won't die, and worse for another 20M who'll be laid out, and/or needing the ICU. (Best wishes with that, in a country with only 900K hospital beds, and 93K ICU beds, and 60K ventilators. Basically, they're going to get Jack and Squat. And healthcare, as you know it, for everyone, will probably totally pack it in long before that point. You read it here first.)

But maybe it won't kill 1M people or more.
And maybe magical pixies will ride in on flying unicorns, who'll eat all the Kung Flu virus, and poop out magical Healing Brownies throughout the land.

If that's your theory, show your work.

Black humor is the one thing most combat vets will tell you that gets them over the anxiety, adrenaline rush, anger, frustration, and the death of close friends and comrades. The only people who understand it are those who have lived it, including cops, fire fighters, first responders and more particularly nurses.

For those who’ve not been where humor is the only thing keeping you from teetering over into the dark abyss of self-hatred I say get over yourselves and learn to lighten up. Whether we get the beer virus or not is irrelevant, you might as well admit it to yourselves it’s already multiplying in your body. It’s what you do with time you have left, that dash between the two most important dates in all our lives. Make the dash the best you can and to hell with the rest of it.

Exactly. I am also feed up with people running VP Pence down because he is Christian. What a display of ignorance to say he doesn't believe in science. A lot of people that are slamming Trump and Pence are the ones sticking crystals to their foreheads for healing. I had to explain to a couple of Millennial's a couple of weeks back that it wasn't magic but the science of chemistry and physiology on a particular reaction. We have also have been studying some of the letters of Paul to the Romans. Could have whipped that out on them and placed them in total confusion. Rant off for now.
By the way great looking pup bbuddy. Looks exactly like mine that is currently in the same position on the floor inside our front door.

RUSH is now on saying that coronavirus is NOT the reason the Markets are down a couple thousand points.

He hasn't said yet what "IS" the reason.

The virus is the catalyst. The real reason goes back to the repo crisis last September. They are out of bullets and out of time to keep juggling the plates. Either intentionally or by coincidence they now have a global pandemic to blame the collapse on so now they think people won't come after the politicians and bankers.
