Gosh Richard, I didn't vote because I thought both of these movies were decent quality. I'm not sure why you don't like them.

Besides, the worst movie ever made was Village of the Giants! This is so seriously bad that it is even hard to watch the 2:25 minute trailer. (If this is too much thread drift let me know and I'll yank this)

you must be mad!

Kubrick was an asrehole, can;t believe how hyped kubrick's crap was and is

I find it odd that the members of the forum actually liked any of the two films, but there's no accounting for taste

Now see, I actually like both those movies.

One of the worst POSes I've ever seen is "The Human Centipede".

Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space". I liked the original "Shining". But, the remake, like most remakes, was horrible. The only remake I ever liked was "King Kong" from the 1970's. I guess I finally figured out that I was getting old when I lived to see the remake of the remake of the original "King Kong"... LOL I also realized that I was getting old, when I realized that I couldn't follow the thought that I had just typed.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes should definitely be considered for one of the worst ever. I can't vote in the poll either though because I can think of many movies that are worse then the two presented.

Yeah, but Dr. Strangelove was a great flick! I mean who could ever forget the classic line:

President Merkin Muffley: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"

Since I have not seen any of the several movies mentioned so far, I feel myself unqualified, I feel myself blessedly unqualified to comment.

it may have been but what I'm trying to say is that Kubrick produced really ****ing crap films and his reputation should reflect that, I mean these films are the ultimate ****ing crap

I give up.
Believe it or not, I never saw Clockwork. I think I saw The Shining but wasn't impressed. I can't even tell you the name of the absolutely worst movie I ever saw back around 1972, or you would look it up, and trust me you never want to see it, it was so horrible.

If Kubrick had made Village of the Giants I might have agreed with you - no matter how good his other films were or weren't. :)

Set Apart
The Shining wasn't the best movie but I wouldn't call it crap either.

Some of the movies on Sci-Fi channel are just horrible, and modern ones too like "Raptor Island" with Lorenzo Lamas. So bad it's laughable.

I think both the Shining and A Clockwork Orange are decent. In fact, Clockwork Orange is very well made; although I find the story to be revolting.

Plan 9 From Outerspace is much much worse . . .I

I could not vote in your poll because neither of the films are bad.

Hey watch that now.;)
That had a really Groovy soundtrack , written by my Uncle Jack.

Yeah......... it was pretty bad though.

Great thread. You pose it like a question but you are only looking for validation.

The Shining is actually a very decent attempt at the book.

A Clockwork Orange was VERY original for it's time, and for it's time, very thought provoking. An interesting projection of where we are now. A world filled with trendy young people prone to extreme violence and no compassion.

Dr. Strangelove is STILL great lol,

and Barry Lyndon was a GREAT period piece.

The British Grenadiers: some great filming: http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/vi...e40ad0-983910514805?q=Barry+Lyndon&FORM=VIRE5

I thought The Shining was ok. I didn't much care for Clockwork. Like Pink Floyd's The Wall, it might be good if you are stoned.

The worst movie I've ever seen was Skeleton Man, with Michael Rooker and Casper Van Dien. Horrible movie. Here's a clue, bullets spark when they hit trees in that movie. Spark like sparklers.

Worst movie ever? I'm going with Surf Nazis Must Die.

That being said, I don't think this was made with any pretense of it being thought of as good.

And yes, I'll save you the effort of searching for the trailer. Beware though. It is not work or kid safe because of a weee bit of nudity.

Has No Life - Lives on TB
"Robot Monster"

"Night of the Lepus"

"Shrek 2" (payback for losing that particular two hours of my life that I'll never get back)

"The Terror of Tinytown" (a "midget musical western", I kid you not)

Dogs, the lot of them.

And one of the kids suggested "Prototype X29A" (never heard of it, but he assures me it's awful).

The Incredible Mr. Limpet (I walked out of the theatre!)
Muscle Beach Party & the whole Frankie Avalon/Annett Funichello series of beach bum movies
Monte Python movies

I loved The Shining and how the camera was worked. Clockwork was decent too.

Both were rather 'trippy", as was 2001 Space Odyssey.

Worst movie had to be Saturday Night Fever, at least for me.

Everyone knows "Gigli" was the worst.

Btw - are you aware of the Kubrick "faked moon landing confessed in the movie The Shining" theory? Fun stuff

On TB every waking moment
I have actually seen "The Terror of Tinytown."

My daughter and I rank "House of Mirth" as the worst Victorian romance film of all times. We kept looking at eachother and laughing outloud at the dialogue and story line.

I give up.
I saw just one still photo of "Human Centipede" -- that was more than enough to turn my stomach.

My son says he thinks a movie called "The Cube" has to rank right down there with the worst; he says all his friends hated it too. I never heard of it, but it's a story about a death trap.

MANOS - THE HANDS OF FATE (or any other movie that was "done" on MST3K - Mystery Science Theater 3000).

What?

No way! I saw that movie three times, it had some of the best gag lines in a movie.

Pass the catsup please. A little Nip in the air. etc.

Clockwork Orange

There are several problems with your premise and question:
1) Both films were directed AND produced by Kubrick, but it would be his Direction that's in question.
2) Kubrick is widely regarded by critics as one of the best directors of all time. "Spartacus", "Full Metal Jacket", "Dr. Strangelove", and "2001, a Space Odyssey", anyone?
3) You didn't even mention some of the ones hated by many: "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Lolita"
3) With only two items, it would be "which is worse", not "which is the worst".

"Here's Johnny!" is one of the most famous quotes from a film, ever.

The worst films I've ever seen are: "Manos, the Hands of Fate", if you count low budget films, or "Transformers"--Michael Bay is the devil of movie-makers.

My son says he thinks a movie called "The Cube" has to rank right down there with the worst; he says all his friends hated it too. I never heard of it, but it's a story about a death trap.

I liked the "Cube" series of movies (there are at least two sequels), but they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

I also watched part of Human Centipede, and it didn't really hold my interest. I got to the point where Herr Doktor was describing the surgery to the victims and said "eh, I've had about enough."

One on my worst list is "Day of the Dead 2: Contagium." I love zombie movies, but DotD2 was just plain awful. Bad script, bad acting, bad special effects, bad everything.

If forced to vote between these too I'd pick Clockwork but at least it had a point compared to the one My vote goes to: The Cook the thief His Wife and her lover. Literally made me gag and I still can't believe I watched the whole thing. Ye gawds.
