Man killed in officer-involved shooting at Atlanta fast food restaurant

ATLANTA - Protests erupted on University Avenue overnight after an officer-involved shooting landed a man, who protestors say is black, in the hospital. The GBI is now investigating and said the man died after undergoing surgery.

Atlanta police units initially responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious person at Wendy's around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found a man asleep in his car, parked in the drive-thru lane and blocking customers, according to GBI.




They reportedly conducted a sobriety test, but when they attempted to arrest him, a struggle ensued.

Deputy Chief Timothy Peek, with Atlanta police, described officers' numerous attempts to deploy Tasers.

"Ultimately, when the officer used the Taser, it was ineffective for the suspect," Peek said. "It did not stop the aggression of the fight."

Peek added preliminary information shows the suspect was able to take an officer's Taser from him and use it against the officers.

The late-night shooting fanned the flames around existing tensions with APD. Protests against police brutality just surpassed two weeks in Atlanta.

A crowd lined the Wendy's parking lot overnight -- full of people enraged by videos seen on social media that appear to show the scuffle leading up to gunfire between two white police officers and a black man.

Members of the crowd told FOX 5's Emilie Ikeda that the deputy chief did try explaining what investigators uncovered so far, but many expressed skepticism towards the department's narrative.

"I guess he was trying to clear it up, it was just all the stories were conflicting, none of it made sense, it was like they were trying to cover up something," one protestor described.

In the meantime, District 3 Councilman Antonio Brown empathized with the angered crowd but urged social media users to wait for the facts.

"What's important is information is being properly disseminated about what has occurred," Brown said. "There's misinformation that's given that sparks an outrage."

The GBI said one officer was injured but has since been released from the hospital. Peek told FOX 5 the officers were visibly shaken following the incident.

And herein we have the problem with underclass low IQ Negro in society (that makes about 80% of them). They are taught from day one.......the police are out to get you.

So when they have an encounter with the police they respond in a "fight or flight" manner like they just saw a cobra snake in the grass of Africa........

The result of course escalates the situation and police "brutality" becomes the enviable result of their actions.

Cause the brutality by your behavior..........and get the brutality as a result............Negro logic at its finest.

Other than the fact that White society has caved in to provide Ghetto lottery payoffs to these escalating police encounter "victims" there is no sense to their simpleton minds.

A suspicious Negro in White society is one that is acting out their jungle/tribal instincts.........to them they dindu nuffin...........and in their mind they are right.

Multiculturalism is nothing more than inviting incompatible racial/ethnic cultures to reside under the same social roof.

Sometimes if the prongs arn't sunk in properly it doesn't fully complete the circuit and won't deliver electricity correctly. Sometimes the prongs arn't spread wide enough, when the prongs are properly deployed the further apart they hit their target the more it hurts.

So what you’re saying is the Negro’s dindu nuffens need more diversity training. I agree, but decades have proven that to be impossible. Deys want ta do what de do. They will never change. They are the one‘s putting racism ... theirs ...on the center stage. They won’t accept they need to change and integrate into the rest of society. The official due date is Monday, but it will most likely be a bit later this coming week. I'm not really concerned about the folks in our area--they've never been able to get anything together to cause trouble when these things go down. What I am concerned about it the Antifa punks coming in from other states and starting something.

Drugs and alcohol or mental problems and low IQ can also impede proper function of the taser.
We were trained to never rely on them in the prison, because most of the troublemakers were on drugs.

They will see / hear that the guy was minding his own business when the police drove up on him and killed him for being black as they were white.

What gets missed?

a) He fell asleep in a drive thru
b) He fought back instead of cooperating
c) He tried to kill them
d) He was armed in the end.
e) He most likely was on drugs.

I have to keep one of the telescoping kind. When I was a kid they taught us for fun how to use a baton correctly. Boy scouts.... all kinds of neat stuff and I got to keep my bum hole intact. YEAH!!

Someone already beat me to it...when I when through the academy, the PR-24 was being used, the baton was considered too violent or some such thing.

Then half the cops on a given shift would be in the ER half the night with a suspect under arrest having the guys head sewn up!

So the PR-24 was supposed to be able to be more defensive. Primary targets were extremities, not the head.

But, again, as has already been mentioned, if the bad guy is drunk or on drugs or crazy or all three, the pain doesn’t phase them so you had to keep beating their legs and arms, yelling commands.

Then along come common video tape capabilities. Rodney King, edited video by MSM, soccer moms who have no idea what it’s like out there....and, here we’re are today!

No names here, but the poster who said the Taser is not dangerous to Law Enforcement is speaking outside his area of expertise. The Taser is made to incapacitate, and on a person not impaired or mentally ill, it works. If the Taser were spooled up to 40 watts, it would stop an offender every time, but would be semi-lethal.

The ROE in most (all?) areas, including police and military force protection (riot control), prohibit the use of "clubbing weapons" against the lower arm, lower leg and head.
The bones WILL break and it is no longer acceptable to TPTB to injure dangerous turds (due to lawyers/lawsuits).
It is for this reason that clubs have been on the way out for a while.

Maybe we should get tort reform, simplify the legal process and hang the lawyers.
The US would once again be the land of the free.....

For many decades, I had always asked, why do POS Africans
fight LEO, whenever they have an encounter with LEO,
even one that maybe only requesting information.

The vast majority of POS Africans, still believe that slavery

Better solution for LEO would have been, to have gotten
everyone that was in the drive-in lane, to pull out of the lane.
LEO should have then called in a wrecker,
and have the wrecker move the POS African's car,
out of the drive-in lane.

Now, ZUSA is looking at even more riots and destruction.

Enforcement actions against POS Africans, are going to have
to come to an end somehow, or the entire ZUSA is going to go
up in flames. Northern cities are no problem, as they deserve it,
however soon, Southern cities are going to go up in flames,
and they have already been burnt to the ground previously.

You can blame the POS Abe Lincoln, and the Northrons who marched
on POS Abe Lincoln's orders, and the POS Lyndon Baines Johnson,
for what the ZUSA, is going through today.

ZUSA is paying for April 9th 1865, the most infamous day
in all of ZUSA history, and always will be.

It is only going to get worse, and worse, and worse,
as the POS Africans are going to push the envelope.
