The mayonnaise master thread

I think I can...
Maybe I missed it, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. It's a non-electric prep item, after all.
I had one and sold it in my shop, but now I'm kind of regretting it. Maybe I'll look for another. I love mayo, though hubby thinks it's disgusting too. He won't even eat salad dressing or anything else with mayo in it.

Just now got back from an Aldi's run. Burmans Whipped is still $1.79 per jar. Same sized Murcklewhoop is $4.79.

To Bones, and all assorted smaller Bones family, the taste difference is extremely minor and readily interchanged for Kraft branded.View attachment 326573

Another great value at Aldi's.

I got a bottle of the Aldi's Burman Olive Oil Mayonnaise last week. It is very good.

I slice up canned corned beef and put it on open faced caraway rye bread sandwiches slathered with the mayo.

A lot of items at Aldi's are very good for much less cost. Not everything, but many! You know what else I love at Aldi? Instant coffee. Last time I checked, it was less than half price vs. the cheapest option at Kroger. It's very good. I don't even brew coffee anymore, since I just have one cup a day. I just heat up water in my electric kettle.

My daughter used to mix mayo and ketchup in equal parts, to use on her french fries. It actually was pretty good. We just called it fry dip.

Freddie's special fry sauce is the bomb....

If one likes ketchup and mayo, they'll love this stuff. Recipe at link.

Of all topics to bring the board to seething (;)) disagreement, Mayo or no Mayo wouldn’t have been my first (or second or third) choice!

IMO, Miracle Whip is the nastiest stuff ever.

Bleck. Agree on Miracle Whip. Not fond of Hellman’s. Like Kraft or Duke’s. And have no idea why we are discussing this.

I’ll look for it. WhenI get to ALDIs.

Thank you!
For Miracle Whip lovers, Aldi's Burmans brand of salad dressing is excellent, and less than half the cost.

I'm about to experiment with repacking some in sterile pint jars and vacuum sealing. It's impossible to prep more than about a years worth because the stuff goes rancid in the plastic jars. When Miracle Whip came in glass, it would store (cool basement) up to 3 years beyond the use-by date.

Be aware that the price is now up to around $3.40. Up from $2.08 earlier this year.

It is still a good value as the name brands are now over $5.00/30 ounces.

Except for Dukes, which is around $4.50/30 ounces on Amazon Fresh.

With my free delivery on Amazon Fresh, It works out to be almost as cheap as the Aldi's brand which charges for delivery.

I like mayo with french fries. Learned to like 'em that way when in Germany.
A local German restaurant would have free hard pretzels and a mayo/mustard dipping sauce on the bar.

  • 1/4 cup prepared yellow or Dijon mustard

DEPLORABLE ME
Well, I'll keep it going:
I grew up with miracle whip, so I'm used to it with egg, potato, tuna salads etc. However, I also like Mayo, and use it for some other things. Now, I often use some of both to make egg, tuna, potato salads. Best of both worlds, lol.

I grew up with MW too but grew to despise it.
Now I’ll only eat real mayo.

I’ve recently discovered Dukes and love it!

Hmm well, I’ll still check it out, we don’t eat that much of it anyway actually, so a price splurge is ok with me.

Thank you!
