SAN FRANCISCO - Police in San Francisco arrested a 19-year-old Daly City man on suspicion of murder for a brazen attack last week on an 84-year-old man in the city’s Anza Vista neighborhood, officials said Sunday.

San Francisco police arrested Antoine Watson on Saturday after serving a warrant at a home in Daly City. He was booked on suspicion of murder, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers also arrested 20-year-old Maylasia Goo on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.

The victim was identified by family members as Vicha Ratanapakdee, a native of Thailand who lived in San Francisco.

The attack happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim lying on the sidewalk at Anzavista and Fortuna avenues, police said.

Security video of the incident captured by a neighbor and shared with KTVU show a man barrelling into the victim before taking off running.

Paramedics rushed Ratanapaddee to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Investigators later recovered the video of the attack and determined the assailant had fled with a female associate, police said.

A tactical unit served the warrant and arrested Watson and Goo at a home on the 500 block of Lisbon Street in Daly City around 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call police at 415-575-4444.

Officers discovered an 84-year-old man lying on the sidewalk, rendered aid and summoned medics to transport the victim to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The victim was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries and passed away Saturday.

The initial investigation concluded that a male suspect ran from across the street to push the victim, causing him to fall to the pavement, police said. The suspect then fled with a female associate.

The grand-daughter said she thought it was motivated by racism against them for being CHINESE and bringing Covid.

She hasn't lived in the US long enough to figure it out.

NO photos anywhere in the articles of the ARRESTS of Antoine Martin and Malaysia Woo--which pretty much confirms what the video shows, of his race.

And Chinese people look VERY pale--very WHITE.

They will figure it out.

I hope.

Just another indication of how far SF has gone down hill. The crime rate vs the housing market costs just don't add up. The scary part of course is that this is nowhere near bottom.

Increased attacks for black on anyone not black has increased in the SF Bay Area. Most folks who are not Asian do not see distinct ethnic differences in Asian folks. The attacker is a thug.

The neighborhood where this occurred appears to be just West of Western Addition, which is the black ghetto section of San Francisco. I used to live North of there (and a mostly Negro public housing project) in the early 90s.

The Western Addition used to be heavily Japanese until the community was banished to concentration camps during WWII. Unscrupulous landlords then snapped up the properties at bargain prices and rented them out to the lowest common denominator without much upkeep.

Many Thais are rather brown, as this late, unfortunate gentleman appears to have been, so I doubt he was mistaken as White or even Chinese. The destructive maniac who wantonly attacked and murdered him was just looking for somebody elderly to assault. Too bad the elderly gentleman wasn't walking his attack-trained GSD at the time of the assault, which probably would not have occurred under those circumstances. :dpaw:

There is a Facebook listing for a Maylasia Goo in Daly City. Says she went to Stanford, worked at Forever 21. Nothing else really on her page. Not sure how common that name is out there. :rolleyes:
