Post #119 x flares were from 3663 and 3664
An asymmetric halo coronal mass ejection (CME) is confirmed following the X1.0 solar flare around AR 3664 this morning at 05:09 UTC (May 8th). A passage past Earth should be expected within the next 48-72 hours and it could lead to a geomagnetic storm

I’ve been trying to keep count. Does this make 6 x-class flares, now? In something like 6 days or so? it’s been 21 years since the series of 11 in October, November 2003, with that huge one on November 4.

So, my Carrington app says this flare has lasted 555 minutes. Is this unusual? I've been watching space weather only a year or two and I've not seen anything like this before.
