CRIME Situational awareness!!!

Has No Life - Lives on TB
My daughter just called to tell us what happened about 30 minutes ago. I will start by saying that she is extremely aware of everything around her at all times. She was cooking, and she noticed that the cat perked up quickly, and went running down the hall to hide. Because she is so aware, she instantly knew someone was near, cat does this for:
-postman
-UPS
-FedEx
-Etc.........

She immediately moved the pot off the stove, an looked around the corner to the front door (back door is in her kitchen)

She sees a black woman trying to open her door (all doors are always locked, she doesn't play). The woman then starts bumping her hip against her door, at which time my daughter runs up and yells from inside "what are you doing?" Before you ask, yes, my daughter was wearing her .40

She scared the woman so bad, she almost fell off the porch and briskly walked away. She was probably homeless, but she said her clothes were clean, and she had a plastic bag under her arm. Cops were called, and no sign of the woman so far.

She talked to her neighbor, who was out raking, and he did see the woman come to the door. She didn't go to any other houses he said, just my daughters (strange).

My daughter was thankful that the door was locked and that the woman didn't gain entry, because it would have ended badly for the woman. Anyhow, it's getting froggy out there, keep your heads on a swivel, and never let your situational awareness drop.

Yes they are , im in a castle doctrin state and my coworker shared a vid from that next door app (or whatever it is) that was filmed the next block over..
Doorbell cam caught two (what appeared to be black guys) attemting a middle of the day home invasion...
Kicked the crap out of the door but couldnt get in, then ran off.
Either they didnt know or didnt care, that if they broke though and entered, they are fair game.

The bag under her arm was for all the goodies she was going to steal from your loved one!:btsm: It's very simple to lock those doors, and keep the big garage door closed because a small army can come through that! Since her door was locked she avoided a shooting also!!

Whether front or back or you are in or out, you should have some type of bolt on your door(s) and engaged. Especially if you are home alone. I would also recommend at least one security camera. This is just the world we currently live in.

There are many other things like don’t let your bushes grow too close to your windows, have a peep hole on all of your doors, don’t open the door without looking out, make sure your porch lights can’t have the lightbulb removed from them, etc.

But, I'd have to bleach the grout.

Or stain the rest to match.

We started locking our doors when the 'domestically challenged' folks began camping by the railroad tracks behind the house.

We also have cameras for all approaches to the house.

I had some signs announcing that 'Trespassers will be shot,' but they have weathered. Local law enforcement made no comment, other than noting the hours that they are on duty.
If you know what I mean.

It's time to replace my signs though...

Neither here nor there.

Yep, had someone try our back door earlier this week. Jr was in a dead sleep and suddenly stood up, tail straight up, and barking the rage bark! One paw up and ready to protect his mama! Actually it was probably his cats he was looking to protect, lol. I was little under powered having only my .380 at hand.

I have an acquaintance who keeps loaded shotguns available several places in his home. He lives alone and has no kids or grandkids so guess it is safe enough for him. Not so much for anyone coming in uninvited. As he says, he doesn't have much, but it is his and he's worked hard to get it so he's keeping it. In Iowa, someone breaks in then he/she/it is fair game.

day late

money? whats that?
Something similar happened to my wife while I was out on a job a few years ago. The person trying to get in was a young (mid twentyish) male and when confronted through a locked door, immediately left. The sheriff was called since he tried to force the lock and prints were taken. Nobody was ever arrested.

I said at that time, at the beginning of the whole covid scam that this would be happening more and more as time went by. Ok, covid didn't force these people to start breaking into homes. But Bidenomics certainly has. People have less and less money to hand out to beggers, so now they have gone to the next level.

Yes. It’s best to start with cleaning vinegar and move to peroxide if you must.

ETA: unless you’re in a hurry.
This isn't directed at anyone specific. I'm just rambling...

Ok...yes high concentrated vinegar and H2O2 will get you where you need to be as far as crime scene issues are concerned. Time is costly and always of the essence. If you want the job done right and right now. Wash down the scene (including every drain...well all plumbing really) with saline solution. Using saline will keep the red blood cells intact which keeps all the identifying bits INSIDE the cell wall.

Nothing left and half the time. You can literally wash that crime right out of your hair.

Vola!

"Beware the nice lady that packs the .380..."

Lol.

Stay frosty, dear one.
That’s what I had on all day after reading this. Too isolated. Now I have dogs and there are different barks for everything, especially “someone’s in the yard”. I listen to them. BUT if they don’t alarm for some reason, well, you can be screwed royally. Dunno. I figure that a .380 is good enough to get someone at the door or simply waiting, but it’s really not enough. I think I may pull something else outta the closet. I don’t know. The .380 is easy to carry ALL the time, but maybe that’s not “it”. Need to think about it a bit more.

And you can create "normal saline" by adding 1 tsp salt to 1 quart of water...

We keep our doors locked for the same reason..... too many walkers these days.....

In fact, coming home from work today, we had one walking down the middle of the road, forcing traffic around him.....

What...Am I the only one that ( this is all fiction going forward ) sits inside while they work to get... in smiling. They get in and I announce that they have just won the lottery of self inflicted doom.

"So...nobody that knows you, knows where you are or what your doing?...excellent."

Now, for a lesson in fafo...

"You will be my guest here at the hotel California for as long as it remains entertaining for me."

...and I have a very vivid imagination that dreams of innumerable scenarios where you get schooled on all of your life's mistakes...like breaking in to my place.
