Wow, you did just avoid the storms!

I’m at the intersection of I35 and Hwy30.in between Atlantic and Red Oak Iowa..
alias johnson, ummm yeah. The chaser in question is a news anchor, not one of the regular spotters. I'd be a bit concerned, too. I know we make fun of those guys, but it really does take a little bit of experience and attention to the radar to keep safe. I think he's out there alone, although I hope one of the camera guys is along for the ride.
I lost power for about 6 hours but the rotation started in my driveway. (Only hit the trees and power line)I'm north of the Des Moines metro. It's now dark. There is frequent lightning but no rain at the moment. I've got the TV on and a radio at hand. I'm monitoring the situation.
I expect this storm to weaken over the next few minutes. In the meantime, my power is unstable. I'm going to shut down the computer.
Please know that I'm fine!
That's my old stomping grounds. I heard the one that hit Elkhorn was a monster. The tornado that hit Waverly, Ne and made it up to Elkhorn west of Omaha tracked about 4 miles east of me. We were in the basement and very concerned since the TV weather guys said that anyone near my little town of Gretna better get below ground. That was way too close. My wife just said that at least two people who work at her facility south of Council Bluffs have lost their homes to the storms just east of Omaha in Iowa. My buddy in Lincoln saw the big one touch down about 8 blocks northeast of his office. He had never seen a tornado before and he was astonished. All we got at my house was a little thunder and lightning and some heavy rain. I am feeling very lucky this evening. We are supposed to have bad weather tomorrow but nothing like this I hope. Fingers crossed. We have to go to a "diaper kegger" for a friends daughter and his fiancé. Not excited about being 40 miles from home. Oh well.

My daughter lives near Pella, Iowa. These storms/tornados are just continuously creeping slowly their way!
oh yeah, I can see you from here...oh wait, it's dark out.I’m at the intersection of I35 and Hwy30.
Ankeny is now in the warned area.New tornado warning: Des Moines, Altoona, Pleasant Hill
Knoxville was mentioned, but quite a bit SE of Des Moines.
The local news said there were “hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed “ in Lincoln and west Omaha which is Elkhorn now. That seems excessive but who knows. It’s very fortunate that downtown didn’t get hit. All the ones that did damage over the river in Iowa spun up over the airport and downtown O I think. The local weather guys were estimating from the video that the one that ran from Waverly all the way to across the river near Modale was an F3 or F4That's my old stomping grounds. Packy and I are both *north* of the Des Moines metro area.
The t-storm has now passed through my area. It's raining. No hail. My power is stable, again.
The bulk of the action is now east of the metro and south of Indianola (two cells). Very, very nasty looking.
They keep talking about a large debris field.
It's dark and these tornadoes are rain-wrapped, which is another aspect that makes this situation dangerous.
Please spare a prayer for the truckers and others who are out in this stuff.
