I am thinking that somehow the dhims get control of the house before the next inauguration
and if trump does win they will pass record amounts of legislation in record time and it will all be signed into law before the next president is sworn in

I have zero confidence in the republican party to make any real effort to stop it ----actually I expect them to wring their hand and whine and blame trump
Pass all the want, beyond the time to say GFY to all their nonsense.

Speaker Mike Johnson Violates Hastert Rule in Passing $1.2 Trillion Government Funding Plan

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 30: Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) holds a news confere

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) passed a massive $1.2 trillion government funding plan despite the objections of the majority of House Republicans, violating the Hastert Rule and crossing the Rubicon into dangerous territory for the future of his speakership.
House Republicans enacted the longstanding rule to prohibit Republican Speakers from colluding with Democrats to pass legislation. But Johnson sent the bill to the Senate despite the objections of 112 Republican colleagues, with only 101 Republican votes in favor, although Johnson and his leadership team applied significant pressure.

Johnson also broke a House rule intended to give lawmakers time to review legislation before a vote. The 1,000-plus page spending bill was presented to members before 3:00 a.m. Eastern on Thursday morning, less than 36 hours before the vote.

The bill now goes to the Senate, which is working to clear hurdles and enable the bill to pass as soon as today. A partial government shutdown would technically begin Saturday morning after midnight, although no significant effects would be felt until Monday.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed a motion to vacate the chair in the moments leading up to the vote in anticipation of Johnson possibly violating the Hastert Rule and objections over the broader process, policies, and spending inside the unpopular bill. That motion is not privileged and therefore does not require the House to immediately address it. However, Greene could change the motion to privileged in the future.

Yet by filing the motion Friday, Greene puts increased pressure on Johnson, who has weathered attacks from his fellow Republicans but had not yet passed such a massive spending bill in the face of objections of the party, which awarded him the gavel only months ago.

The House will reconvene after a two-week Easter recess with Johnson facing a potential revolt from one flank and insistence he pass billions of dollars in foreign aid from another. Greene’s resolution is a warning to Johnson that he could face removal if he moves a bill to fund Ukraine’s war with Russia with American taxpayer dollars.

If the Senate passes the bill as expected, Congress will almost immediately turn to funding for the next fiscal year, which must be addressed before October. Johnson must face almost identical hurdles in working to fund the government by that deadline, but it is unlikely his own party will be willing to accept him passing a funding bill over their objections again.

MTG is good for checkers but NOT for Chess

Nothing wrong with MTG … at all. She’s doing more than we‘re. They’ll get rid of her someday. At least she‘s trying something, somehow. Most of us sit at home and vote every 4 years thinking we can change things.

MTG is showing you … it won’t … we don’t. We can, but it’ll take more than we’re willing to step up and do right now. It’s beyond talk anymore.

But she does need to dig deeper and find out who is paying the sellouts.

America is being turned against us.

somehow congress got persuaded to vote for Mike Johnson rather than Jim Jordan.
Any think they wanted Mike Johnson because he would not go after the corruption faction within the government but maintain the status quo?

Domenica D'Elica: Senate passed a 1.2 trillion spending package late last night. They blocked inclusion of Laken Riley 51-47. The senators did vote to protect illegal immigrants, who are violent criminals. Congress is broken, they’re dysfunctional, it’s too hyper-partisan to work! Need a change.

I believe anything that they do, they’re not for us, they’re against us in every way possible

First off Schumer looks like the serpent in the garden. Second I do not believe in coincidence in politics. There is no reason for the R‘s to leave their seat open other to flip the House before the election. They can remain seated and not vote nor do they even have to be in DC. They just hold the seat and do nothing. Seems they can’t even do that for their country. Traitor is to mild a word at this point.

Talking Gallagher here, if he resigned before the 2nd Tuesday in April, the district would have an election to fill his seat. If he is not expelled from Congress by April 10 there cannot be a special election in that district and it sits vacant. By waiting until the 19th, the seat will not be filled until after the Nov. election. Who thinks this is 100% planned?

They booted Kevin McCarthy out and replaced him with Mike Johnson who seem to be no different than McCarthy.
As of late I read that McCathy is still looking for employment.

Seems to be the most likely explanation.

Inquiring minds want to know what's the difference between Hakim Jeffries and Johnson?
Apparently none.

Democrats are in the minority no longer. In a stunning historical development on Friday, Democrats seized upon a Republican surrender to take control of the agenda of the House floor.

An astonishing 165 Democrats voted for a rule from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to allow a $100 billion foreign aid supplemental package to the floor Saturday. The House will hold four votes on final passage for each of those packages, including a Ukraine funding bill with tens of billions of American taxpayer dollars.

Minority party members rarely vote for a procedural rule to allow the majority party’s agenda to proceed through the House. Doing so in such numbers is wildly unprecedented.

History was first made on Thursday, just before midnight, when, for the first time in recorded history — since the House began keeping records — the House Rules Committee relied on minority party votes to overcome objections from the majority and advance a rule bill to the House floor.

The powerful House Rules Committee, known for generations as “the Speaker’s Committee” for the control the speaker of the House possesses over the committee and its reputation as a rubber stamp for the speaker’s agenda, sets the floor agenda for the House through what are known as rules.

Johnson disregarded history and abandoned his own party despite its majority, however slim. With more Democrats voting to advance the House’s agenda than Republicans, the minority party has effectively taken control over the bills that will come before the House.

In the end, 151 supported the rule, with only 39 Republicans in opposition. The final tally was 316 to 94.
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is a messenger in the minority no longer. He has taken over.

They choose poorly and should have put Jim Jordan as speaker of house, no telling but he may have put congress back on track and Biden Impeached months ago.

He would have been given an "Offer he couldn't refuse", as well. Probably the same one likely given to Johnson.

Assuming, of course, that he's not already 'Controlled Opposition'.

Assume nothing.
