Reflections of My Life by The Marmalade

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79NiN7ISW7E

The changing of sunlight to moonlight
Reflections of my life
Oh how they fill my eyes

The greetings of people in trouble
Reflections of my life
Oh how they fill my eyes

Oh my sorrows
Sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home

Oh my crying (Oh my crying)
Feel I'm dying, dying
Take me back
to my own home

I'm changing, arranging,
I'm changing,
I'm changing everything
Everything around me

The world is
a bad place
A bad place
A terrible place to live
Oh but I don't wanna die ...

Fun thread. Lots of memorable tunes. I am also a fan of Brandy by Looking glass. Got to see the Georgia Satellites perform here in Grants Pass a few years back. Keep your hands to yourself was the only tune I ever remembered them for, but they gave a fine evening of entertainment.

How about Gerry and the Pacemakers Ferry Cross The Mersey?

Another true one-hit wonder:

"Popcorn" by Hot Butter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y_VHOCp7Lw&feature=related

This next one more or less qualifies as a one-hit wonder. These guys did have some other songs that got a wee bit of airplay, but this was their only true hit, and for the most part, this is the only song they ever did that anybody really remembers.

Strangely enough...this video comes complete with some Japanese animation, which adds a rather odd effect to the whole thing. ;)

That's like Thomas Dolby - I know, and probably anyone on the planet with a pulse knows, 'She Blinded Me With Science'. I also remember 'Hyperactive'. That was about it.

On YouTube, there was a link for 'One of Our Submarines is Missing'. O M G :shkr:

I gotta get the album!

Cult of Personality

Neon lights, A Nobel Price
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free
I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your T.V.
I'm the Cult of Personality
I exploit you still you love me

I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I'm the Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality

Neon lights a Nobel Prize
A leader speaks, that leader dies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set you free

You gave me fortune

It is interesting how some bands can be huge in their own country but have little or no appeal across the ocean.

For example I was always surprised that Big Country didn't have more commercial success in the US, but then a similar UK band like U2 is almost overplayed here.

There are some subtle preference differences in English speaking countries. In the USA reggae and ska have a tough time getting any airplay. The Police are about the only reggae type band to have any big hits here and The Police is hardly a real reggae band.
