FOOD I am weak

Oh, woe is me. I am weak. It's close to 1:00 AM and my DW's Thanksgiving stuffing and turkey gravy is innocently sitting in the fridge. It must've been the Devil's own influences that attacked me, but I decided in turn to attack that stuffing and gravy!

I feel, oh, Dear God, so unworthy...

Not really. I'm lying through my teeth! I enjoyed every bite of that early morning snack :-)

Trying to eat better, so every morning I've been eating only a small serving of oatmeal...

And I just dipped some turkey in my oatmeal this morning. I'm a sickly turkey eater too...

Currently restraining my self from the gravy and lightly toasted sweet Hawaiian buns, mmm.....

Owner's family Thanksgiving is today.

He's gone now - possibly to get Mom (well, yes, she is all our mother - even me!) her coffee since she's busy finishing up the preparation.

AND - I bet there will appear on his return a Medium Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla, double cream & sugar, with a snaplid opened setting on the fence post.

AND - dare I hope? - an "apple fritter?"

True Heaven on earth....

Now I'm "all out of sorts" (Owner's expression) just thinking about it...

APPLE FRITTER--you HAD to go there. It's a good thing I'm under the weather, and not feeling like going forth in search of that, or it's cousin the bear claw....

My daughter (RN/NP) had to work yesterday, so we’re doing T-Day today.

While I’m certainly looking forward to the Turkey, Mashed Taters, Dressing, Gravy, Corn Casserole and String Beans, the leftovers are where it’s at!

The refrigerator sirens did not sing the dirge of the leftovers during the night. However, their melodic strains and dulcet tones are eminating from the ice maker now!

I'm cooking my turkey today. Had "the dinner" with friends yesterday, but I want my own leftovers!
So, Turkey is in roasting bag in oven, stuffed, of course, the rest of the stuffing is cooking in my convection oven.
The giblets for the gravy are in my Instapot.
The low carb Cheddar Bay biscuits are done.
Just need to cook the asparagus and heat up the sweet potato.
Desert is low carb cheesecake.

A bowl of green bean casserole for breakfast. Pumpkin pie and pecan pie are now calling since breakfast is completed.

The frig is stuffed with leftovers and the DS had eggs and hash, the DIL had french toast and sausage, the DGD had her breakfast food and toast and the DW had french toast and sausage. Leaves more leftovers for the old man. Life is good.

God bless and enjoy the leftovers.

Texican....

I grew up in a big ol' Catholic family when there were still meatless Fridays. My dad would suffer through the whole day after Thanksgiving and at midnight, he would make himself a huge turkey sandwich!

I knew we were not alone in our late night (early morning) callings. I am so looking forward to making turkey sandwiches and going for a hike in the Redwoods today. Then the whole leftover feast again tonight!

Low carb cheesecake? What's the point of that, Cardinal? :lkick:

An english muffin covered in crumbled pork sausage and topped with a huge blob of red wine sharp cheddar cheese spread, baked at 350 for 15 minutes. If God made anything better, he kept it for himself........

this is why the turkey and gravy are in the fridge in the garage across the yard.

We'll have leftovers for dinner tonight. We're down to only one slice of pumpkin pie, though (we started on that early), so I'll have to persuade DH to make another one. (He says that I overcook it.) Or maybe a cherry pie, or a blueberry pie. (When I was a kid I HATED pumpkin pie, so my dear mother always made me a cherry pie on the holidays.) Turkey, stuffing, yams/sweet potatoes, cranberries, pie... it's all good!

That's why I bought only one slice of cake. There was nothing highly caloric to call me to the fridge late at night.

I may be a killjoy, but my goal is not to gain any weight over the holidays. I was successful last year! But it took a lot of focus on portion control and not bringing sweets into the house, other than for Christmas dinner and New Year's Eve.

I had a little of everything I wanted! I just didn't buy whole cakes or make endless quantities of stuffing and gravy.
