Fruit WOOHOO my fruit trees SURVIVED!

Between drought, wind, odd ball freezes, flooding rains, etc., etc., all my 17 young fruit trees survived the winter, all the weird weather we've had and are flowering and setting fruit!! In their third year! WoooHOOO!!

We have apples, peaches, apricot, more apples, nectarine, pears, cherries, orange, and avocado. Though the poor avocado almost gave up the ghost with a very hard late frost!

We did loose one blue berry and a couple of blackberry plants, but most made it through.

I don't know about the blueberry but the blackberries might come up from the ground. I wouldn't yank them out quite yet. I've had a few "goners" that wound up surprising me.

We lost a fruit tree. It snapped right at the graft and I'm not sure of the status of the fig tree. It doesn't look so good.

We lost a peach tree this winter. It was struggling last year so it wasn't a surprise. The surviving peach tree will be fruitless this year as the winter was too cold and killed the fruit buds. The peach trees were planted 11 years ago and have born fruit maybe five of those years because of the cold winters here. The good news is that the five year old apricot tree has set fruit for the first time this year, I am so looking forward to apricots! The plum tree also avoided the late freezing weather this spring and has set plenty of fruit. The apple, pear, pawpaw, and cherry trees are hardy and blossom later, so they have fruit reliably every year.

I'm in the peach state and I have trouble with Peaches.
