Or winter pot holes. In India they're called "speed breakers"; it's usually 4-5 of the smaller ones all bunched together like an oversized rumble strip. Haven't seen "traffic calming", up where I am they're still speed bumps or their bigger cousins the raised cross walk.
We have traffic calming here in NC, normally followed by about 100 feet of swerving skid marks on the pavement...I think “traffic calming” is British.
Also road "narrowing" like in the L5P/Midtown area. Here in GA when it says "Traffic Calming" devices ahead it means roundabouts.
Ugh… We still talking about road signs here?Traffic calming devices is a generic term for a large number of treatments including speed bumps/humps/tables, chokers (abrupt narrowing of the roadway), (otherwise unwarranted) stop signs & roundabouts, speed feedback signs, etc.
