Alfa, it does sound like they were actual missionaries, but one definitely had a potty mouth.
We were active in the church for close to 20 years, first in Dallas, and then the western Birmingham area - where I carried mail for 8 1/2 years...in Bessemer, at the time the fifth most dangerous city in the US.
Annie's family (father's side) had been in the church for a couple of generations...but her dad was truly eff'ed up from his couple of years in Vietnam. I mean, seriously, deeply, completely eff'ed. What he did while in the church, should have had his ass excommunicated. Let's just say that both his sons committed suicide because of their upbringing, and dear Annie suffered every kind of abuse at his hands.
I also had church friends that had a potty mouth outside of the church, not exactly rare, but more than I'd ever have expected.
Annie and I did get sealed in the Temple in Dallas, around 1987, the only time we ever entered one. I also was moved up to the Melchizedek priesthood...which was nice. I even had a patriarchal blessing, which was somewhat prescient for the past twenty years...
Every worthy, baptized member is entitled to and should receive a patriarchal blessing, which provides inspired direction from the Lord.
Both boys were in scouts, and well on their way to an eagle, but after we moved to Wyoming, our experience with the ward in Lander was horrible. They wound up dropping out of scouts, and we left the church soon after, and we've never looked back.
Regarding missionaries, everyone I've ever met has been nothing if not respectful, kind, and thoughtful.
