So, my take-away from this is to arm myself with a question-answer that every Mormon should know, but that a imposter like would not know--such as, where is Joseph Smith buried? Yeah, it would take about a minute of research to find out on the internet, but throw the question at the kids and see what happens. I bet very few imposters would take the trouble to do more than put on the "uniform".

Maybe have some verse in mind from the Bible or the Book of Mormon, and ask them to show it to you.

Maybe some of the Mormons on the board can suggest something. But I'd not like to see the "test" made public.
There is a favorite line missionaries used to use when people told them they had already read the Book of Mormon - "What did you think about the part where Brigham Young rode across the desert on a white buffalo?" If they say they loved it - it proved they hadn't read the Book of Mormon. :)

I can promise you - they would be thrilled to baptize you. You are an incredible spirit and one of the elect daughters of Heavenly Father. And, just to set the record straight, young men (and young women) are encouraged to go on missions - but if they decide not to go, it does not prevent them from getting married. Although, it's a wonderful chance for young people in the age group that "it's all about them" to learn about true service to others. Thank you for your kindness to those young men.
Why would she need baptism from them? Her Christian denomination would have told her she needed it, and she would have taken care of it, long ago, as needed.

Alfa, it does sound like they were actual missionaries, but one definitely had a potty mouth.

We were active in the church for close to 20 years, first in Dallas, and then the western Birmingham area - where I carried mail for 8 1/2 years...in Bessemer, at the time the fifth most dangerous city in the US.

Annie's family (father's side) had been in the church for a couple of generations...but her dad was truly eff'ed up from his couple of years in Vietnam. I mean, seriously, deeply, completely eff'ed. What he did while in the church, should have had his ass excommunicated. Let's just say that both his sons committed suicide because of their upbringing, and dear Annie suffered every kind of abuse at his hands.

I also had church friends that had a potty mouth outside of the church, not exactly rare, but more than I'd ever have expected.

Annie and I did get sealed in the Temple in Dallas, around 1987, the only time we ever entered one. I also was moved up to the Melchizedek priesthood...which was nice. I even had a patriarchal blessing, which was somewhat prescient for the past twenty years...
Every worthy, baptized member is entitled to and should receive a patriarchal blessing, which provides inspired direction from the Lord.

Both boys were in scouts, and well on their way to an eagle, but after we moved to Wyoming, our experience with the ward in Lander was horrible. They wound up dropping out of scouts, and we left the church soon after, and we've never looked back.

Regarding missionaries, everyone I've ever met has been nothing if not respectful, kind, and thoughtful.

Actually, if you read the Book of Mormon (which is scripture and a spiritual history of the people of the Americas, like the Bible is one of the people in the Middle East) there are quite a few passages that quote directly from Isaiah. The earliest people in the Book of Mormon - Lehi and his family - actually left Jeruselum in about 600 BC - before it was destroyed.
Not exactly correct. Read the Conclusion section of this paper on that:
