Sitting here with the missus, knock on the door. Two young Mormons wanted to talk about Jesus. I told them I didn't want to and they were soliciting (it's 830 pm folks. Come on!) One piped up with "we have permission to be on the property anytime we want".

No they don't; they have been run off for these "talks about Jesus" during the very early morning, twice a day in some buildings, at night, all the time basically- and me and the property mgr. are friends-no, they don't have permission. Cops have escorted them off the property at least twice. Looking for souls is one thing-but this late at night?

I informed them their statements were incorrect-in return I was told to "F*ck off". as they walked away from my wide open door (and persuasion instrument in clear view on the end table). In front of my home, in my face, in the evening.

Yeah, one actually said that. Really????????

So, my question is; how can I track down the group these folks are with? I'd like to inform their preacher of their sterling representatives of their religion. And I'd like to ask whoever their leaders are is this representative of the faith these yokels are supposed to be representing?

I'm a little calmer now; when this happened it just surprised me. And angered me. And I don't get mad, I get even. If I can get a license plate on their next visit here, woe be unto them and their families.

I would first make sure that they were LDS. Maybe chat with the manager tonight and tell him about it.

**IF** they are, you can phone the nearest LDS church during business hours tomorrow and complain, but it is really late. I would suspect imposters. Were there two of them?

(I know there are some less-than-stellar LDS members out there, but those on a mission are usually quite polite and would not be visiting in the US at such a late hour in November, unless the rules have changed.)

Look online for the closest LDS (that's what they call themselves) church and start from there. I suspect they'll be as horrified as we all are, and will .ikeky be helpful. But you might want to talk with your local LEOS, because that REALLY isn't how the Mormon doorknockers usually act!

I seriously doubt they were LDS missionaries. I have NEVER EVER heard one talk like that. I'll say they were NOT LDS missionaries.

LE has actually escorted them off the property two times so far. And have done it at other complexes in the area as well.
They were dressed in the LDS missionary manner and had name plates. They were LDS. There have actually been young women LDS out here before-very nice, very good folks.

The guys come across as a**holes; it seems to blow hot and cold. Some are decent, some are snarky and one or two just plain rude. They seem to want to target the immigrants in the complex from what I've seen. Just an observation, but they seem to want to really talk to the immigrants here.

Recruiting, perhaps. Okay, well, I'd still chat with your manager and then call the local LDS church tomorrow and go from there. Having their names would help. Write down their descriptions if you haven't already, while that info is still fresh in your mind.

So sorry this is happening! You have enough on your plate.

They were. I've had one tell me an outright lie when I told them they're not supposed to be soliciting. One said they had permission from the property manager to be here. I was on the phone with her at the time; they were pretty red faced about it. It was actually pretty funny.

I would expect midnight guests. You just got cased. Be extremyly careful.

I hope so. TBear would love some fresh bodies to chew on.............
The apt. building where we live; TBear has already "sniffed" all the residents in it (and they love him). So, when they come in he knows who they are and doesn't bark.
When these two came in he started barking and didn't stop until I went to the door. It's a simple but pretty reliable alarm.

Not buying that they’re LDS. No LDS member, let alone a missionary, would EVER address a person like that. I’ve been a member since 1982. Those weren’t real missionaries.

Dennis, they were clean cut, white, dressed in the missionary uniform. They had the black nameplates but they had coats on, couldn't see the names.
If they aren't they're pretty clean cut 18-19 year old burglars casing a working class to poor neighborhood. Definitely not a good start to a potential life of crime.

maybe they are not what they say they are. Maybe they intend to rob you.
Next time they will be dressed as meter readers.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. That kind of behavior is just not acceptable. There should be a Mission Home in your area. They report to the Mission president- he would be the best person to talk to. Look up Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Mission Home.
Three of my sons served missions and they would never have acted like that - but I guess you just never know. Again, I’m so sorry.

Did you get their names? Even if you didn't, make a call to the LDS mission you are in. Report it what happened. Tell them everything that happened. Someone will get back with you. You can do a goolge search for the LDS mission in your area. There will be just one. Call that number and let them know. This was your original question...how to report them.

Alas, looking like an LDS missionary doesn't MAKE you an LDS missionary. You heard what came out of the young man's mouth. By their fruits . . .

Please notify the leadership of your nearest LDS ward that this happened to you. I guarantee they'll want to know, and may even be able to do something about it.

So sorry this happened to you, AlfaMan. Bellyrubs and earskritches to your good TBear.

801-240-2222 full time missionary department I’m sure they will help with the problem.

Thank you for this information. I will give them a call tomorrow. It surprised me, makes me angry but surprises me more than anything. Had another one lie to my face a while back as well. I wrote about that one upthread.
Just surprises me. Got dear friends that are LDS; I actually like the prep and storage ideas. Best I can figure they are young kids away from home with freedom with not as much supervision as needed.

Please update us when you can. I'd like to know what's going on.
In my area, LDS missionaries are only active in the summer months.

That's interesting to know. Here they seem to be active year round. The people tend to be a little older during fall and winter but they're always out here. Always........

Thanks, found the local mission house. It's near Mount Vernon, didn't know one was around that close.

Honestly … I’m surprised you answered the door. We never do. If your not expected, good luck. Something doesn’t play right with this. You’ve already had a visit from the alphabets, right?

Interesting that everyone says they can't possibly be real LDS missionaries. I have no doubt that they could be based on personal interactions with some of the LDS teens. Having said that, I will also say that I have some great friends who are LDS and I have high respect for most of the ones I've met. There have definitely been a few bad apples, however. Oh, and my experience was while in their church, not even out in public.
