We have inherited an old, wood-burning cook stove (a Martin “Marco Pride”.) While we would love to make use of it, there just doesn’t seem to be a place in the house that we could use it. We’ve discussed the possibility of putting it out on our screened-in porch, but obviously the deck wasn’t built for that kind of weight. We would also need to consider how to keep the cast iron from rusting (rain can blow in if it’s windy) not to mention a hearth and stove-back to keep from burning the place down. Has anyone done this or have recommendations of other ways to use it? We’ve considered building a kind of covered patio addition to the deck but that’s not something we could do for a while due to cost. It’s currently sitting in the garage. I suppose if disaster truly struck we could rig something there, but short of absolute desperation that’s not a practical solution.
