Yup. Have to be careful with the zippers and such - not for real heavy use long term - and adding a rain fly (tarp) is a must for wet weather, but if the budget only allows a couple hundred bucks and you need fast and easy, with enough space for adult sized cots plus gear, it's shelter.

I'm not a fan of tent living either, but from the original post, this sounds like a last ditch, desperation measure more than anything else.

I believe guns aren't allowed in Overton Park. Last couple of reunions there, we had them at the golf course, where it was posted no guns. So, put a golf course where many golfers are affluent at the edge of a park where thugs hang out, that's a plan. We carried in the middle of the day.

Never golfed a round in my life and, even if a space is declared gun-free, I may be asked to leave and that's it, assuming I didn't get stupid, draw my piece and say "make me" or something equally stupid.

Unless it's a prohibited place (PO, Federal building, jail etc etc) that's as far as it goes.

Of course I'm not going to be standing in the street throwing rounds at a passing car or some other similar thug behaviours.
