5th Wheels Weekly RV Repair Update Thread

I have been playing with the idea of keeping a log of the renovations I'm doing to a 5th wheel I picked up a couple of months ago. Just to keep a record somewhere...

Here is what I've done in the last two weeks:

1. Seal the roof. That was miserable.
2. Interior paint.
3. Exterior paint.
4. Removed and cleaned the vents.
5. Installed new batteries.
6. Replaced the slide valve on gray water tank.
7. Replaced all the 12v fuses with new ones and made a list of which fuse controls which system.
8. Cleaned out the cupboards and drawers.
9. Cleaned out the fridge.
10. Removed old curtains and replaced with new mini blinds.
11. New striker plate for the door.
12. New door catch grommet.
13. New trim installed on exterior.
14. New wheels and tires.
15. Brakes checked and bearings repacked. New seals.
16. New taillights and license plate lamp.
17. 2 new porchlights.
18. Stove and oven cleaned.
19. Microwave removed.
20. New 7 way plug.
21. New landing gear feet.

I think that's it so far. I don't normally hit a project this hard, but we are leaving for a trip in a few days so I have really been rushed for time.

I still have a few projects that need my attention, but nothing that can't wait for us to get back.

If I missed anything, please let me know. :D

The solar system has arrived! Nothing big (85 watts - around 4 amps), but plenty of room to add on later. My main goal was to have enough solar to run the fridge while on propane. Seems stupid, but the fridge still draws about an amp while running on propane.

Also thinking of adding a third battery as there is plenty of room for it.

1. Got a plumbing leak fixed. Sharkbite fittings are the way to go! Expensive, but worth it.
2. Working on getting a laminate floor put in. It looks nice, cost me less than $100 in materials and should be more durable than the linoleum I am covering.
3. The toilet is being re-sealed and a new ball valve on order. I am, however, very tempted to buy a new one that is taller and better made, but it's hard to justify the expense on an older trailer.
4. I still need to address the spare tire (it's mounted underneath the trailer and has escaped my attention so far). I took a 1000 mile trip this spring and somehow forgot to check the spare!
5. Still need to paint the trailer frame.
6. Still need to re-pack one of the jacks with grease.

I'm sure there are some other things I'm forgetting that need to be done. I have a 2 week elk hunting trip coming up in a few short months so I better get on it. ;)
